Question about On-Hold Plus On Hold Plus 4000 Answering Machine
The CID Error is a basic error when Caller ID information is not received from the phone company. First double check that you are still subscribed to the service.
If your phone line has a lot of noise on it, the noise can interfere with the caller id data that is sent when the phone rings. Did you just happen to have DSL installed onto your phone line?
Do you have another caller-id capable phone that you are able to test with as well? 2 phones having same issue points toward the phone company side of things. 1 phone with an issue points toward your side.
Before opting for any kind of repair from telco, replace your phonecord between the base and the wall, also check the outlet for debris in the connector as well. Just to make sure there is a good connection.
Post back your results, and we'll go from there.

user manual above.
CID error is Caller Identification Display. This means the phone thinks it has some Caller ID Display problem.
Try setting the Caller ID, setting to start a little later, modify the start delay. this is in the manual, link provided above.
