How can I remove the chuck?

Most drills have a chuck that screws on to a threaded shaft that extends inside the motor. Repair shops know how to "freeze" that shaft so it will not turn, allowing you to unscrew the chuck. One model of drill has a tiny hole that you insert a nail into to remove the chuck.

Pulleys not working

More than likely the pulley set screw is lose. Look on the inner hub of the pulley's both on the motor and the fan for a threaded hole with an allen head type of screw in it. Before you 'help' it to turn, look to see if one shaft of the other is spinning inside the pulley without the pulley itself turning. Buy a set of allen wrenches and tighten the screw. You may have to remove the belt to see the setscrew hole. It can be done by stretching it over the edge of the larger pulley and rotating it by hand. Put it back the same way. BTW make sure the power is OFF! fingers are still at a premium.

How do I get the chuck off a hole hawg drill if shaft keeps spinning due to broken shaft

I'm not sure about that specific tool, but usually a keyed (or keyless) Chuck has a screw hidden inside of it. Open the Chuck all the way, and shine a light in. You should see a screw down there. It'll be left hand thread (clockwise to loosen). Remove this screw, and then get the biggest Allen wrench you have, and lock the short end of the allen wrench into your chuck so it acts like a lever handle. Use a hammer to whack the Allen wrench with one swift blow to break the threads loose that hold the chuck on. You may need to find a way to hold onto the shaft to keep it from spinning. This might involve removing the case to find a purchase to hold onto with some locking pliers. If the shaft is completely broken, and loose from the drill, stick it in a vice to hold before trying to remove the screw, and the chuck.

Try googling "removing drill chuck", and you should find some comprehensive videos on the subject.

Good luck.

If you need more help, post some photos of what you're working with, and I might be able to give you a better answer.

    • Test the dripping water with your hand to make sure that it is the hot water side that is leaking. Lay a rag over the sink drain to keep parts from falling down it. Locate the hot and cold shutoff valves under the sink and turn the knobs clockwise by hand until they close. If the knobs remain stiff, use a pair of pliers to gently turn them until the knob begins to move, then finish turning by hand.

Pry the decorative cap off the faucet top with a small thin, flat-head screwdriver. Remove the cap that has the "H" letter on it. Depending upon the handle screw configuration, use a flat-head or Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the handle screw. Gently pry up on the handle from all angles and pull it up and off the splines of the stem.

Use a crescent wrench to turn the hot water stem nut counterclockwise until it comes completely off the stem shaft. Wiggle the stem with your fingers and pull it out of the faucet. If the washer on the bottom of the stem is deformed, it indicates the source of the leak. However, remove the old seat from the faucet base with an Allen wrench or a seat removal tool.

Wipe out the inside of the seat housing with a rag. Replace the seat with the new one included in the repair package, using an Allen wrench or seat removal tool.

Place the new hot water stem shaft into the valve seat, and start the stem nut in by hand, turning it clockwise. Finish tightening the stem nut with the crescent wrench, but only to a moderate firmness -- do not over-tighten it. Place the handle back over the stem shaft and tap it down until it seats firmly. Replace the handle screw and tighten it with a screwdriver.

Turn the hot and cold water supply knobs counterclockwise until they are fully open. Turn the hot water faucet knob to the "On" position and check for leaks.

Ok my ace 2000 disposal hums. blades move freely when i put my hand inside. the 1/4" allen wrench doesn't fit in the opening at the bottom. my sink fills with water but eventually drains, so I...

Sounds like the starter winding is bad.
The cutter disc is welded directly to motor shaft. So is the allen wrench fitting.
So if disc rotates freely, then you should be able to feel the allan wrench fitting rotate too.
Use broomstick instead of hand down disposal.
If motor hums and cutter disc does not spin, but cutter disc can be moved freely, then disposal needs to be replaced.
I wish they made repairable motors so that metal and copper doesn't get thrown into the scrap recycle metal bin.

Garbage dispoal not working. The blades spin freely inside, the reset button has been reset, when you switch it on the moter makes a faint humming sound, and the allen wrench will not rotate either way.

You need a new disposal.
Free-rotating blades show there is no obstruction.
Humming says you have power.
Frozen allen wrench says bearings are rusted.
Motor is now overheating each timer electricity is turned on, and motor will overheat and stop humming.
At least the drain is clean and water is not flooding under the sink, which means you can continue using sink until disposal is replaced.

Disposer is making a humming sound.

If your disposal is humming but not grinding then shut unit off and use a 1/4 allen wrench in the opening on the bottom of disposal in the center and turn it back and forth with the wrench till you get it freed up. There should be a offset wrench that came with the disposal for this purpose but if you don't have it a regular allen wrench will work. Try running hot water thru disposal while you are turning with allen wrench to help loosen up grease. After you get it turning freely remove allen wrench and turn disposal on . Hopefully this will take care of it but if not repeat until it frees up.
If your unit stops look on the bottom of the disposal for a small red button. This is a reset button. Push it and see if it will run. Hope this helps you. Thanks and have a good year.

I just drained my hot tub to fix a leak and now one of my pumps won't work. It makes a humming noise for a second then it shuts off. Then repeats the humming noise for a second and shuts off.

It sounds as though the pump is jammed. You will have to loosen the pump somehow. The motor is trying to work but with the jam, it goes off on overload. The motor sounds good, just need to loosen the pump. Good luck...Lee
