I got a Samsung 1080i television, but when i connect my dvd player to the back, it does not pick it up. i also tried connecting a tv freeway antenna and that did not work either.

Check the input selector. If it is not set to use the source signal type, the set won't pickuup any signal. If the source signal is antenna, you shoud select antenna as input selector. If the source signal is AV, you shoud select AV in the input selection. Press the input button at the remote controller, and do the needy.

When connected to cable, get a no signal indicator

You need to go into the TV menu, locate where choices for choosing incoming signals are, and choose the cable option, so the TV knows that it is receiving a cable signal, VS an antenna signal.

How do I detect signal strength?

You need a signal strength meter. I remember the ones we used when I was in the TV repair business 30 years ago. I think you are going to have to find someone who installs antennas. The ones that Cable TV installers use have a very high minimum signal indicator and most antennas won't register a signal on that type.

Need to know how to change and setup for use of antenna

Purchase your UHF/VHF antenna. The antenna can also be purchased at most electronic and retail stores. Consult your list from Step 1 and see how powerfulicon1.png the over-the-air signals are for your specific address. Purchase your antenna based on the broadcasting power you need to receive a clear picture on your TV. You might be able to get away with an indoor antenna if your signal strength is strong enough. If not, you'll need to purchase an outdoor antenna.

  • 4 Install your antenna (or have it done professionally) according to the building codes of your area. If you must use an outdoor antenna, it is a good ideaicon1.png to have the antenna professionally installed. This ensures that it is properly grounded on your roof, not too close to electrical wiring and stable during inclement weather.
  • 5 Hook the converter box up to your television using the cable that came with it (F Cable). Hook your antenna up to the converter Box. Turn on your TV and converter box. Tune your TV to channel 3 and press "Scan" on the digital convert box. Allow the box to scan for your available channels.
  • 6 View your picture and adjust your antenna accordingly for the clearest over-the-air feed. You should only need to make adjustments once. If you are having a difficult time getting a clear picture, use a signal strength indicator to see where you receive the most powerful signal.

    No signal on tv

Your Samsung has an Input Source button on the remote. If you are getting a "No Signal" message, you either have no cable, dish, antenna, or HDMI input to the television or have the wrong source selected. With the television turned on and/or a cable box, dish etc turned on, select all of your sources until a picture appears.

I bought a new Samsung LED 40" Series 5 TV. However, after connecting to the tv cable line, i get message " weak or no signal" and not able to get any tv signals. What could be the problem?

You usually hear "weak or no signal" when the tv's input is set to air. Check to see if changing the input might help. Or if you are using an antenna to get your tv, then maybe your antenna is not powerful enough. The new digital signal is weaker than the analog, so antennas that once worked might not work as well now. Hope this helps!

My samsung 40" lnt4061fx is pixelating so bad i cant see the picture. Its like it just stops and freezes because of the pixelation and goes in spurts

What is the source for the TV? If it is OTA, then what size antenna do you have and is it pointed in the direction of the signal? Is it an indoor or outdoor antenna? If it is an outdoor antenna, check if it turned in the wind. Are there tall trees or large buildings blocking your signal?

Antennaweb.org and tvfool.com are good sources for the antenna direction - just plug in your address. tvfool.com gives a range of stations, their signal strength and direction with notes for the appropriate antenna for receiving the stations. Antennaweb is much more conservative in the station list and assumes an outdoor antenna.

If your signal is split to feed several devices or just marginal, you may need an amplifier in the system. (A bi-directional amplifier may be needed for cable or satellite) This corrects somewhat for the loss in signal from the splitter and sometimes brings in the weak signal.

If the signal loss is intermittent, it could be related to the weather or a large flock of birds.

    I hope this helps.

(digital signals are either strong enough for the tuner or you get the pixelation and freezing until the signal comes in more clearly)

Samsung hlp 4663w does not receive off air signal from roof antenna through antenna ports 1 or 2. Get cable signal just fine through same ports. Same antenna works fine on other tvs. Whats the problem and...

If you're in the US, you will no longer get antenna signals because the US has recently switched to digital. The TV you have does not have a digital tuner and you'll need to purchase a digital converter box that converts a band of analog signal to digital.

    I cannot select Channel 10

What kind of antenna is used. Outdoor antenna or indoor antenna. The main board only detect the signal with certain level, if the signal strength is not enough, it will pass by. Since the change of signal from analog to digital this problem got more depending on your location. You need to use a booster-antenna to over come this problem.
