Every laptop has a small battery that keep time & settings. Unlike the desktop battery, the notebook's battery is much smaller. And you guessed it. You have to get inside of the notebook & remove the little battery. (Make sure you unplug the AC power & the notebooks Ni-MH battery before opening the notebook).
I found this link that might help you reset the cmos/bios. I did not look completely through it but read enough to know it should work.

You need to contact the manufacturer.

Most computers rely on one of three mechanisms
to reset a BIOS password.

1) Remove the CMOS-RAM 's keep-alive battery from the
motherboard, causing the CMOS-RAM to be cleared,
and the computer to revert to factory conditions.

This is typically a small silver cylinder, the size of a coin,
clipped or soldered onto the mother board. This is NOT the
same as your main battery pack.

2) Bridge (short circuit) a special jumper on the mother board
to clear the CMOS RAM. You need to know which jumper.
Shorting the wrong one could fry the computer.

3) A non-invasive reset using a secret code, key stroke
sequence or an RFID tag/dongle, similar to your car
immobilizer, which requires sending your laptop back to
the factory or authorized service center.
====

Modern laptops employ much stronger security measures, than
desktops, precisely because they are so portable and easily
stolen.

1) Each laptop has a unique serial number, permanently
programmed at the factory.

2) The BIOS password is much better protected.

3) Many laptops contain a proprietary crypto-chip, which
can be turned ON to prevent the hard-drive in a stolen PC
from being read or accessed.

4) Many laptops now have unique RFID tags embedded
which can be accessed from a distance to ID a lost
or stolen PC.

5) Many laptops with Broadband or Wi-Fi will periodically
call home, using dedicated WEB servers, and report
their GPS co-ordinates. This feature cannot be disabled.

For security reasons, manufacturers will not disclose their
secrete codes and features over the telephone, you may have
to send the PC back to them.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Martin.

Forgot BIOS password for Acer Extensa 5420. need heeeeeeeeeelp

Every system must store the BIOS password information somewhere. If you are able to access the machine after it has been booted successfully, you may be able to view the BIOS password. You must know the memory address where the BIOS password is stored, and the format in which the BIOS password is stored. Or, you must have a program that knows these things.

You can write your own program to read the BIOS password from the CMOS memory on a PC by writing the address of the byte of CMOS memory that you wish to read in port 0×370, and then reading the contents of port 0×371.

!BIOS will recover the BIOS password for most common BIOS versions, including IBM, American Megatrends Inc, Award and Phoenix.

CmosPwd will recover the BIOS password for the following BIOS versions:

  • ACER/IBM BIOS
  • AMI BIOS
  • AMI WinBIOS 2.5
  • Award 4.5x/4.6x/6.0
  • Compaq (1992)
  • Compaq (New version)
  • IBM (PS/2, Activa, Thinkpad)
  • Packard Bell
  • Phoenix 1.00.09.AC0 (1994), a486 1.03, 1.04, 1.10 A03, 4.05 rev 1.02.943, 4.06 rev 1.13.1107
  • Phoenix 4 release 6 (User)
  • Gateway Solo - Phoenix 4.0 release 6
  • Toshiba
  • Zenith AMI

How do i bypass the primary drive lock password

On the mainboard near the coin battery you'll find a jumper. take it off and reboot. Replace it and reboot again. that works sometimes. If not you can go to the motherboards' BIOS like Phoenix and they have backdoors built in. Read on:
Backdoor passwords Many BIOS manufacturers have provided backdoor passwords that can be used to access the BIOS setup in the event you have lost your password. These passwords are case sensitive, so you may wish to try a variety of combinations. Keep in mind that the key associated to "_" in the US keyboard corresponds to "?" in some European keyboards. Laptops typically have better BIOS security than desktop systems, and we are not aware of any backdoor passwords that will work with name brand laptops.
WARNING: Some BIOS configurations will lock you out of the system completely if you type in an incorrect password more than 3 times. Read your manufacturers documentation for the BIOS setting before you begin typing in passwords
Award BIOS backdoor passwords:

AMI BIOS backdoor passwords:

PHOENIX BIOS backdoor passwords:
