There is probably some interference from other equipment in the house or in between your walls. First make sure both devices are connecting on the same channel. Go to properties on your wireless device and to your administrative web page for your router. I use channel 6 or 11 for most of my set ups. Then, I put my router as high as I can since I have a 2 story house and lay the antennas in the horizantal position. I connect 54M most of the time with little dropage. I have metal duct work running up my walls which did cause interferance until I switched to channel 11. It will probably be a trial and error fix. Hope this helps.

How is a wireless system different from a hardwire security system?

Wireless systems are much easier to install. It really depends on the place you want to secure. Two-story homes are ideal for wireless due to installation ease. On the other hand, one-story homes and business may be more suitable to hardwire systems. There is no difference in the operation.

2wire2701hg-b lights: power-on, ethernet-off, wireless-blink steady, dsl-on, internet-on, dsl line ok

If ethernet light is the only one that's not on, that means there is no device that is connected hardwired to the router.

My hp7280 all in one printer prints a blank page when printing from wireless and is ok when i print from hardwired destop

If this problem arises check for updated printer drivers, compatibility between your wireless printer and Windows Vista and firewall settings. All or any of this could prevent your HP wireless printer from printing documents. Setting up wireless printers is very easy; however, sometimes certain settings can create hassles for you.

My wireless connections will not work! last night both lap tops and my daughters zip it were unable to establish a wireless connection. It happened once before about a month ago and were able to...

OK, to clarify.
Ethernet = modem?
Wireless box = router?
Do you have hardwire connection to router?
Check the wireless settings in router with hardwire connection.
Most routers use random channel search for wireless.
I usually set this for to use one channel only.
Stops random interference and connections.
FYI: Most routers are on 2.4ghz - same as cordless phones and some hand radios - the frequencies over lap sometimes - even though they aren't supposed to.
Microwaves will also disrupt signals.

Lost wireless connection. Hardwire still works. Tried resetting modem and router.

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
