Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

My small Sylvania thin model (12 inches about ) that I bought last year is just passed warrant. I purchased it at Smith's Food King in Salt Lake City for about $300. It suddenly went blank. I took it to Sylania TV specialist who charged $80 to look at it. After 26 days today, he said it needs parts from China where it was made and he has no idea when he can get those. I would never buy another Sylvania product after this bad experience.

By any chance did you get the number or description of the part that is required? While the original part may have come from China, there are both repalcement parts as well as substitute parts available. Also, it is federal law that replacement parts be available for at least 5 years from the last date of manufacture for electronics. Something does not sound right here.
Keep us posted.

All the troubles I've seen with this model are because of the LIFI lamp. Panasonic warrants the lamp assembly for four years from date of purchase. Call Panasonic toll free hotline or go online for an authorized warranty shop. Good luck

What is the setup code for a Sylvania TV with Model Number RLC372AK01 and Serial Number 25014897? I need it to program a new remote control I recently purchased. None of the codes listed for Sylvania TVs...

The setup code may be different for each brand of remote, so a code for the TV will not help. You need to follow the instructions for the remote you bought to scan through all codes until you find one that works. Generally this is done by entering the programming mode and using the ch-up or ch-down buttons to scroll through the codes then use the power putton to see if it turns your set off. When you find the right one you press the button to 'store' it.
Your remote instruction booklet should step you through the process. If it does not have instructions for scanning all codes let us know the Brand and Model of the Remote you bought and we may be able to find the instructions.

Whats the value of a mitsubishi 48 inch tv, model is ws-48511?

this is mostly in the eye of the one who thinks they need one!

12 months of age 60% its purchase price if it is in good working condition
24 months 50%
36 months 25-30%
48 months 10-15%

Beyond that it will be heritage listed and bring twice the price of its original outlay and be sought after by Mitsubishi who will be amazed that they actually made a TV that lasted that long. The average life of amy Mitsubishi and quite a few other modern Tv's is about 3 years before they require huge repair expenditure.
Often better to update wvery 12 months if you can afford it as they are not built to last like the old CRT's that will still deliver on a set top box long after plasmas and rear projections have been retired.

please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

I purchased a new Sylvania LCD TV model # LC320SLX and I can't seem to find the correct code to program my universal remote to the TV. According to Sylvania, they remanufactured their TV's at the...

I called Comcast and they had no clue. But I called Sylvania and their reps were FABULOUS!!! Turns out, the TV makers send the cable companies the frequencies for each TV then the cable companies send them to a 3rd party to get the codes written.

This model of TV is new and there is no code written. The rep suggested that we countinue to check back on the Comcast website regularly to see if the code is posted. She said that the sales reps tend to get the info last.

The Sylvania rep anticipates a new code written soon because this is such a prevelant problem.

Lamps burned every 6-9 months.

This is indeed a very common problem with the Toshiba products. The reason I asked about the time is that the television bulbs are estimated to last on average 4,000 viewed hours, which you are only coming up short of 50%.

Toshiba is offering an extended warranty free on the product that does cover the bulb replacement.
http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/tacpassets-images/notices/dlplamp.asp
is the link for this extended warranty.

After researching your particular make and model, I have found that the average span for a bulb is indeed 9-12 months. Beyond this extended warrant, Toshiba is offering no further assistance, and will only replace it once. They have also been having issues with the color wheel going out at an average cost of $750.00 which under warranty they will replace one time only.

There is nothing you can do beyond replacing the lamps, however my suggestion would be to replace the television itself, and stay away from Toshiba.

Call Staples. Most sets carry a 1 year warranty. This could be as simple as poor connections inside the set, but opening up the set will VOID the warranty. Check with Staples first. If there is no warranty, update this and we'll look further for a solution.
