All you have to do is,uninstall the network driver, and reinstall it. after that you reboot the computer, press f11 for the blue screen to come up, make sure the setting is default, when it come up again all the problems should be fixed... it worked for me

This happened to mine as well- the wireless was disabled and could not be enabled- teh drivers were there ...Best Buy Geeks could not fix after 3 hrs + and wanted to scrub it for the second time in 1 month! A friend of mine took it to a restore point a week before the drivers were all disabled and it is now fine- with that anyway- now the right half of my keyboard trypes random letters and symbols!!!

My wireless was working fine, then when it woke up for hibernation the wlan was not working.

Open Device Manager. In the Device Manager window, click the plus (+ ) sign next to Network adapters to expand the selection. Under Network adapters , click to select the appropriate wireless LAN adapter. On the menu bar, click Action and then click Properties . In the Properties window, click the Power Management tab. On the Power Management tab, click to uncheck the box next to Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power . Some WLAN adapters have another power saving setting in addition to the one on the Power Management tab. Click the Advanced tab and try to locate a power saving setting. If it exists, disabled it. Click the OK button.

I have an HP Presario F500. In that Wireless assistant does not open and the button is not working. Whats the solution. I updated the device manager

Try going to Control panel/network connections and see if it shows the wireless lan. if it does then right click and select uninstall. When that has finished reboot the machine and let it find and install the wifi lan again. Now check it. If still no go it could be a variety of problems including the keyboard itself or even the wifi network card

Wlan disabled

If you have vista click the start button and in the start search type "hp wireless assistant". It should show up in your list while you type it. Click on it. Once the assistant box shows up, click on "properties". A "settings" box should show up. The main one you need here is "independant controls for installed wireless device". Check that box. The other ones are icons and indicators that you can check at your discretion. If in doubt, check them all. Hit the "apply" button. Then in the upper right hand side of the box hit the button that says "turn on". This should activate the device and if you have a light up indicator on your computer, it should change color or light up. That should do it. Kind of weird how it gets to that point.
