I have had some issues with high ESR readings in the capacitors in the scaler circuits in those units. Do you have an ESR meter to check the caps in circuit?

It probably is a shorting ribbon cable or some other cable, please have a look at all of these on the system and get them tested with an ohm meter.

Let me know what you find

here, give Hitachi a call about the blinking and they should be able to tell you exactly what is wrong, I don't usually with with Hitachi tvs and so am unsure of what the exact code might mean. See what they tell you and I can help you from there. thanks

Hello,

Flashing means searching the picture to be outputted in the projection of the TV.

I guess Its a voltage shortage in the input to project the the display. Verify voltage regulator in the fly back of the TV ..(warning high voltage). If hard to do so please consult repairman in your area it very cheap.

may this help,

melnavz

Heres something to try

IF YOUR TELEVISION SHOULD APPEAR TO HAVE A LOSS OF POWER, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS
PROCEDURE:

1. Press the POWER
SWITCH (ON/OFF
SWITCH)
once.

2. If there is still no power,
wait 30 seconds and
press the POWER
SWITCH
again.

3. If there is still no power,
unplug the power cord
from the wall. Wait 30
seconds and plug the
power cord back in.
Press the POWER
SWITCH
again.

I don't know what basti is trying to say but plasma televisions don't have a lamp and I don't think slaping the tv would do any good in this case.

First, try the unplug it, wait a few minutes, plug it in trick, several times. If that doesn't work try pressing the power button and slap the back left side of the set several times. Sometimes, this will shock the ballast and/or lamp into working.

Try checking the wires as well if its pinch or not and try to take out all cables from other devices from the back

yep one by one and turn it back on

When i turn the power on my 55 inch plasma tv, my screen stay black no picture

If you take the back off you might see a couple of electrolytic caps that might be bulged on the power supply board. The power supply board is getting weak, and if you replace the electrolytic caps that will fix the problem. You can also replace the power supply, and you can check at www.partstore.com for a power supply.

Black out?!?!?

I finally got information from the repair shop. Apparently it is the upper and lower panel drive. The parts are supposedly not more than a couple hundred dollars, though I'll let you know when I get the bill. I do want to say that Hitachi was great when I called them. Even though my plasma is out of warranty by a few months, they agreed to pay for parts if I pay for labor. That just might keep me buying Hitachi products despite the issues I've had with my 2 plasmas.
