Question about Sony ICD-B200 Digital Voice Recorder
I just bought a sony voice recorder and have recorded an interview on it. How can I connect it to my PC (running Windows)? There is no USB port, only a headphone and a microphone jack. Any help would be appreciated.
To transfer recordings from the Sony ICD-B600 to Windows first buy a Radio Shack #42-2497 cable. Connect the cable from the recorder headphone jack to the computer microphone jack. In Windows XP follow the path: start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Sound Recorder. This small window will allow you to record 60 seconds of sound to a file. Get Article #82215 from the Microsoft web site. It will tell you how to make extended recordings. I was able to record 45 minutes continuously. The recorder is turned on by moving the 'HOLD' switch down. The recorder is turned off by moving the 'HOLD' switch up and waiting 2.5 seconds. Have fun.

I just find out. You can get a 1/8" mini plug stereo audio cable (easily from eBay). Plug that in the headphone jack of your sony recorder and the other side to the microphone of your computer (just as other people posted). Then you don't need to use Windows Movie Maker which I have no way to figure out how to use. Instead, you can go to some website like this one: http://www.avs4you.com/Register.aspx?Type=Install&ProgID=37&URL=Register. To download their free AVS online voice recorder. Then you can just press "play" on your sony recorder and at the same time press "record" on that free AVS online voice recorder. You are all set. :)
Note: you do need to play the entire voice file from your voice recorder in order to have the file recorded. Wish there was a easier way.
Try it and you won't be disappointed.

Push the hold button to on and then hold down play (or record) for 1-2 seconds, and it turns your ICD-B600 off!

You can connect to PC using the headphone jack running a cable into your PC microphone jack. Then use Windows MovieMaker software to capture the audio. The software comes with XP.
The recorder has no power button I think it goes into a sleep mode after non use for a period of time.

This recorder eats through batteries, even with the hold button. I guess all of these recorders eat through batteries. I think I have a high expectation of batteries, with names like "Energizer" and "Eveready."

Thanks for your help, I have figured out how to record to the laptop, but the sound quality is absolutely terrible and I don't want to burn to a disc in that state. I am looking to get something of better quality for next years lectures. :)

The poop on this recorder says it comes with a USB cable. If it does, would that not imply there is a USB jack somewhere on the device? If so, simply move or copy the file to your computer, and then use something like Windows Media Player to play it.
