Question about Electrical Supplies
The usual cause of this is the main breaker is not making good contact where it plugs into the busbars. Eventually it burns itself clear (open). The main breaker most likely needs replaced. Sometimes the busbars are damaged enough (from heat caused by the bad connection) that the entire panel needs replaced.
While replacing the breaker is not a difficult task, it's best to have this done and the busbars inspected by a qualified electrician, as one must be fully aware of the hazards involved.
Be prepared for sticker shock on the price of the new breaker, probably $100 to $150 just for the part.
