Hi norberty

When you load a disk, do you hear a faint screaching sound, or the disc turn a tiny bit, but wont sart to spin? If that is what happens, then the spindle motor is lazy. You will need to replace it. Sometimes, you can get the motor to work again, by squirting some crc2-26 lubricant spray into the motor(through the bottom) Be careful not to use too much. Try this, if it doesnt sort it out, let me know here before you rate the solution, We can go further

Problems reading dvds

Have you tried cleaning the lens of the portable player? You can purchase a DVD cleaning disc, this disc has microfiber brushes which clean the laser len assembly of the player as the disc spins.

Hope this helps

I have a Goodmans DAB600 Micro System and its not reaind the disc

Hello,
how long have you been using this player and when did this begin?
Remove the disc and try another.
If the player still doesn't read disc, then it means the laser is weak.
The lens is weak such that it cannot load data on discs. Its spinning, trying to load, but can't because of the weak laser.
Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.
If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.
To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.
Once this us done, your player will play all discs again.
Good luck.

When loading a dvd it displays, "NO DISK". Is it

Hello
There are mainly three motors for most of the DVD players. One to spin the disc we insert in, other to load the laser pickup unit to-and-fro inside it to read the disc and an other one to load the tray mechanism 'in-out'. According to your description, the disc spins inside, and you can hear its spin. So motor which spins the disc has no trouble at all I should say. Then comes to the second motor that moves the laser assembly inside it. If it do not work, the laser pickup unit won't move and no reading will take place and 'No Disc' display will be the result. The last chance is with Laser Pickup Unit itself. Just get this unit repaired by any well experienced service technician or by the authorised service center, because, there are special tools to open this unit. As it is a compactable one, more care should be given to it while repairing. Suspect the second motor I described earlier, and the Laser Pickup Unit. OK.

I have a pioneer DVR630H DVD Recorder. When i load a DVD the screen says loading but it does not load & play.

Hello
Open the top cover of your DVD player after unscrewing its screws at side and back, plug it into AC socket, switch it ON, and put a Cd in it, and see whether it spins or not. If it spins and still the device not reads the CD, either its laser pickup unit is fauty, or dirty. Put a cleaning disc in it and play for 2 or 3 times and check whether it helps you. If not, replace the strip wire that goes from the laser pickup unit to the main baord first. In some cases, if this wire gets faulty, this kind of problem will occur. If it also doesn't help, there is no other way than replacing the Laser Pickup Unit, with same type and number. OK.

Dr787t won't play disc. Player won't recognize

You can try to stop this by dis-assembling the unit to gain access to the laser and you can clean the laser using a cotton bud or cue tip, if that doesnt solve the issue, what you can do is with the case off, put in a dvd and see if it spins, and also note if the laser is lighting up, if it isnt lighting up or if the disc isnt spinning you may need to replace the dvd loader of the unit.
If the laser doesnt light up and the disc doesnt spin its possible you may need to replace the MPEG Printed Circuit Board which you will fing attatched to to the dvd loader via small ribbon cables, be carefull when removing these if you need to remove them or a seriens of small plugs. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Disc does not spin and shows on screen that there is no disc

With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the laser lens and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that moves the laser diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a working unit again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. This solution may work on other models of portable DVD players. Most portable DVD players use this type of transport mechanism. Try this solution it might work for you. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

Won't play

Fixed it! I got a new laser/optical pickup (SF-HD65) and replaced the old one. Replacing it wasn't too hard, just a little fiddly. Once it got it all back together, I fired up the unit with the case open and could easily see the red glow of the laser through the spinning disk. This didn't happen with the old pickup. Every disk I put in (originals and burnt stuff) was detected.

Even though the new laser worked, I can't be 100% sure the 24 pin ribbon cable / flat flex cable (ffc) connecting the laser to the mainboard isn't dodgy (I didn't try the old laser again). It's very flimsy and I may have somehow managed to re-seat the connectors better or bend the cable enough to make a contact over a break. If I get the "no disc" error again I'll replace that with the same or similar. For all out there it has the following written on it Kotobo E188165 AWM 20798 80C 60V VW-1. It's about 25 cm long, has 24 pins.

Regardless, I'm happy I didn't send the player to landfill. For $15 + shipping, replacing the optical pickup was cheaper than buying a new player that plays as many formats.
