Question about Hoover F7220900 SteamVac V2 Upright Vacuum

Open Question

I lost the detergent container on my Hoover Model F7220-900. Its a small plastic bottle that sits on the back of the clean water tank. I called the help desk and they told me that they no longer make that part so I have to pay $55 to replace the whole tank which will come with a detertent container built in. The whole carpet cleaner was only worth about $225 new. I don't feel I should have to pay $55 for a part I don't need but the machine is worthless without it. Any good ideas to solve this problem?

If this has a duct part #38661003 (#3) that is supposed to be installed in front of the tank isn't there, then you will have no suction to pick up the dirty water.

If this doesn't use a duct, then either the foam filter (#2) is up all of the way, need to leave 1/4 in. gap from the top, or the rear of the tank lid is not locked down.

We used our Hoover SteamVac F6207-900 for the first time today and it did not suction at all. Please help. It emptied all of the clean water/detergent as I cleaned the carpet, but no dirty water came up into the empty tank.
Thanks!

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that you may have a clog or a vacuum leak in the vacuum line. The suction should be able to pickup the water into the holding tank for you. So please feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer or you can use a wire coat hanger to try to unclog the vacuum but if that fails contact the factory or your local vac dealer. . So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I recommend to use the same detergent that came with the machine. Some detergents can cause problems such as damaging seals and causing build up. Hope this helps, post back.

Remove the brush block, is the shaft on it or broken off. Replace the block if broken off. Turn unit over, with brush block removed, handle tilted back, is the square hole turning, if not then the turbine is bad, this is what turns the brushes.

SOURCE: height adjustment on Hoover Windtunnel u5755-900 no longer works

On this model it is only a single slide adjustment lever. have you trie to tilt the vac backwards (lifting the wieght off the front wheels) and then slide the adjustment lever?

If there is a mechanical issue with it. take the bottom plate and roller out, and then the 2 small screws which hold the cover on underneath. you should be able to see the problem from there

My Hoover steam vac dual v clean water and detergent tank leaks water before attached to the vac and during cleaning

This is a common problem with the earlier models which had a separate soap tank glued to the clean water tank. The plastic was too thin beneath the valve on the clean water side and would develop cracks. You most likely will need a new one piece tank. ( Part # 42272104)

http://www.hoover.com/pdfs/manuals/F7452900.pdf Heres a link to the manual if you dont have one, Ive emailed them and they gave me the same solutions that are on page 17. ? Make sure tank is securely locked in position ? Clean water tank or detergent container empty ? Refill container according to instructions for surface being cleaned ? Recovery tank lid not on correctly ? Make sure lid is firmly in place ? Valve cap clogged ? Remove and clean valve cap (see following instructions) 1. Remove clean water tank. 2. Turn valve cap (A) counterclockwise and remove. Soak valve cap in warm water for at least 15 minutes. Wipe cap dry. 3. Align slots (B) on cap with tabs (C) in opening. Turn cap clockwise to tighten.

Water leaks out of the clean water tank valve

This was a very common problem with the earlier tanks on this model. The newer tanks can be identified as a single clear plastic molding, and the older, defective tanks had a separate soap container glued to them, usually blue or green in color. If you look carefully, I think you will find the leak is due to cracks in the plastic beneath the valve. Purchasing a new tank should solve the problem. ( Part # 42272104 ). It is probably worth a call to Hoover, to try to get a new tank at no charge.

Hoover shampooer not sucking up dirty water, only small amount in container and used 3/4 of shampoo

You did not say which model this is, but if it is the F5800 or F5900 series, the most common reason for lack of pick up is that the lid is not fully seated on the dirty water tank. Be sure to hook the two tabs on the front of the lid, and then snap the rear latch into place. Another reason is that the duct on the front of the dirty water tank is missing. The duct may have been removed to install the hose, and was not put back in place. It is a square plastic piece, about the size of a slice of sandwich bread, which slides into the front of the tank. A far less common reason for no pick-up is that the seal that the tank sits on has fallen off the motor cover suction tube. You will see a round tube on the bottom of the dirty water tank. This sits on top of a large rubber seal on the motor cover when the tank is in place. Be sure the seal has not fallen down into the hood.

Top water bottle want stay in

The black base that the bottle sits in is broke. You can use hot glue to replace the bottle. I would suggest buying a new tank from hoover because the style of tank you have has a known design flaw. They have redesigned the tank to be stronger. You could trying calling the Hoover company and complaining. I know that has worked in the past.

I own a Hoover Steam Vac V2 deep cleaner with Auto Rinse feature. The Model Number is not available ex: was on the bottom of the machine and the sticker is completely worn off the machine. I am having a problem with the bottle you fill with detergent ex: this bottle is separate from the main clean water tank. THE PROBLEM: The little plastic part that goes in the bottom of the bottle has an "O" ring ex: cone shaped with a spring.....it keeps falling out. Can you supply a part number for this component? The bottle has a number ex:36778-002. Thanks...Linda (504) 888-2120.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hover SteamVac V2 with Auto Rinse feature. I would suggest because the model 3 and the serial 3 have been worn of the machine to contact your local vac dealer in your area and or the Hoover Factory Service or the Hoover Website for the Factory Model #, but the part that you are requesting is not very expensive and can be replaced. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Is this a V2? The F5914-900 just has a solution tank. The V2 has a small soap tan attached to he water tank. If you have a V2, the seal or plunger at the bottom may be bad and can be replaced. The reservior asm. that the tank sits on may be bad. You may have a problem with the tank in which case it will have to be replaced.

Inspect under the seals to see if the tank hasn't cracked, which is usually the problem. If it is a new seal that is needed, part #43513026. If a new tank is needed, part #42272104.
