Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t 14.1" Notebook Laptop PC (Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD, D... PC Notebook

1 Answer

Adobe updater window flashing, allowing no access to open programs.

Each time we use our HP laptop (which the Geeks recently serviced), an Adobe Updater request appears which we typically cancel, but if we try to view a PDF, an Adobe Updater window tries to open but merely flashes on and off constantly, allowing difficult access to other open programs and no access to to the updater itself because of its flashing status.
Adobe updater has been unchecked in config by your geeks.
There are no Adobe programs we can access from the program list, but Reader does appear on the un-installable list.
When we switch to the administrator user, the problem does not occur.
Also, we cannot stop Microsoft Narrator, either, though it is turned off.

Restore factory settings programs step

On newer (Vista and up) to restore to factory press F11 at HP splash screen this will put you factory restore mode ( not earlier restore point) then follow the on screen instructions including backup option of files if you haven't done this if no backup is needed choose to continue without backup and this will bring your HP laptop back to factory, out of the box, condition. You will have to reinstall programs of choice and update adobe free products like Adobe Flash and Reader and all of the windows OS updates good luck

Flash player not installing

1) Check the settings of your anti-virus program. A lot of times an anti-virus program will not let a program download.

2) The main thing with Adobe Flash Player, is that it will NOT install a new version of Flash Player; with an old version present.

And it will NOT automatically delete the old version.

Use the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller tool.
Then go back to Adobe Flash Player Support, and download AND install the newest version of Adobe Flash Player.

Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller tool,

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Go down to the bottom of the page, where it states in bold print -
Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller
Click on the blue - Tech note - in the paragraph.

Takes you to here,

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Scroll down to -
1. Download the uninstaller for Flash Player
Click on the blue - uninstaller - underneath the above heading. [Uninstaller (674KB) ]

A small window will come up. Click on Save File.
A small download window will come up.
Allow the file to fully download, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.

At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on Next, Next, and Finish.
If you are not asked to restart your computer, do so.

When Windows loads back up again, go back to Adobe Flash Player Support, download and install the newest version of Adobe Flash Player.

Every time i try to log into youtube on my laptop the link appears to be broken

You may need to update Adobe Flash Player on your laptop. To do so, kindly follow below instructions:
1. Open web browser(like IE, Mozilla, etc) and go to http://www.adobe.com
2. Click on "Downloads" section or tab
3. Once you are directed to the "Featured product downloads" section, click on the "Get ADOBE FLASH PLAYER" at the right side of the page.
4. You will then be directed to another page containing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (i.e. Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55). Version may change from time to time. If you do not want to install the Free Google Toolbar kindly uncheck the box that says "Yes, install Google Toolbar-optional "

5. Click on "Download Now". When you get the prompt or security warning window just click "Run". If you get another prompt asking "Do you want to run this software?" just click "Run" again.
6. When User Account Control dialog box appears, click "Yes".
7. Once installation is complete just click "Finish".

Close your Internet browser then open it again. Check if you can access youtube. Hope this helps.

I'm getting full disc warnings and am looking to reduce the number of applications. Do I need Adobe flash player 10 plug in and Adobe flash player 10 Active x? I also have Adobe AIR

Hi James6000

You need adobe flash player on certain websites...you can always download it again later if you see that you need it.
I have had adobe air installed forever, and have never seen it in use...so I would say dump it too...later installation if needed.
You may want to consider and external hard drive and transfer most all of your files, pictures, games onto it and free up space on your hard drive that way also.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

Hello sir,Before 3 days ago I bought HP dv5 1104AX laptop. In this laptop there one problem in graphics like suppose I open video site in browser aned if I put in full screen then screen will be divide in...

Hello sir

I understand that your notebook is unable to play online videos in a web browser in full screen mode.

Videos on YouTube are streamed through an Adobe Flash player. For the best viewing experience, we suggest you install the latest version of Adobe Flash after removing any old versions you've installed.
Please completely uninstall Flash before reinstalling the latest version.
To uninstall Flash, please follow Adobe's instructions, listed here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
Once you're done, restart your computer and follow Adobe's instructions for reinstalling Flash: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
If the instructions above don't resolve the issue please try the following:
  1. Temporarily disable popup blocking software installed on your computer to test.
  2. Allow YouTube.com as a trusted site in your Firewall software.
  3. Ensure other applications like Quicktime, iTunes, Real Player, or Windows Media Player aren't set as the default streaming application, as this might affect the video player.

Windows Vista users: If the flash uninstall reinstall does not work this maybe due to a Microsoft Windows Vista permissions issue.
Please use the Windows button at the bottom left then the search function:
  1. Go to: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
  2. Right-click on the following file: FlashUtil9b.exe or FlashUtil9e.exe
  3. Select "Run as Administrator" and install the update.
  4. Restart your computer.
