Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

1 Answer

The flap for the ice dispencer on the freezer side of the door will not stay closed. There seems to be a part missing from the flap. Maybe a spring or something. Can I get this fixed myself for less than 50$ or will it need to be repaired by a professional.?

You need to send the model number so i can look up your machine to see the part numbers, there's a piston that is used to close the dispencer door, close it and don't use it,if alot of hot air gets sucked inside there it could cause big problems depending on how wide open it is.the model number is on the right side wall up near the ceiling in the fridge side or if it's older it could be down near the bottom hindge on the fridge door.send the model number,i don't know if that part is less than 50 bucks

Ice will not dispence thru door.

Without knowing the brand and model # I can offer the most common solution.

On most "pass the ice through the door" models there is a flapper door where the ice dispenses. The spring which holds this door closed when you are not dispensing ice becomes weak allowing the flap to stay open jsut a bit. This open space will create an ice dam in teh dispenser thus not allowing the ice to dispense. The repair is generally made by replacing the flap assembly.

All the best.

Bottom of ice dispencer freezes and wont let ice come out. It is a whirlpool side by side

Check the door flap on the freezer door , which opens to let the ice come thru . If this flap does not close completely , then it will let frost accumulate inside the ice bin , blocking ice from dispensing . If you had given the model number , I would give the part number for the door kit .

Whirpool side by side- opening for through door ice dispenser will not close all the way after dispencing ice. Causing condensation and loss of cool air. Any fix available?

Hi;there is a little plastic valve set up that return the ice flat. Fiddly joba and patients required so you don't brake anything else, that somethings sticks and won't allow flap to fully return. If that doesn't work, tape the flap up and open the freezer door and retrieve ice that way

Whirlpool side by side with ice maker dispenser not working

Hello, we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem. We would suggest checking the ice chute to make sure that there is no ice lodged in the way of the flap. If the issue persist we would suggest having a certified technician out to look at the Refrigerator. If you would like further assistance you can send your name, phone number, address, model/serial of the appliance and the date on which you purchased the Refrigerator to Whirlpool_Reviews@Whirlpool.com. The ice dispenser door stays open. Selenoid works

This is due to a rusted solenoid plunger .You will need to remove the top freezer door hinge cover ( 1 screw ) , and disconnect the plug there . This will remove power to the dispensor . Using a screwdriver , insert it just behind the dispensor board , and twist , to pry the board off . Remove the 3 plugs there , and remove the board . Remove the 4 screws on the white cover , and slide the cover out and off . In the top right , in the dispensor area , you will see the solenoid and plunger . 3 screws hold the solenoid on . Lift the flap , and the plunger will lift off . Part number for solenoid and plunger is WR62X10055 . The closing spring is probably good , and if you are pushing the flap closed , you are moving the plunger itself , instead of it gliding inside the solenoid , to the closed position .

What is the part called (the little flap that closes after Ice comes throught the dispencer?

it's called an "ice chute door". Look on sears.com, select "Parts Direct", another page will come up, enter your model number of your frig, then enter, wait a few then your model info will pop up, select either the freezer door or if it has "Ice & Water dispencer" select it, wait for another page to come up, then look thru diagram for part you are looking for, then scroll down to that part number and you will be able to see actual mfg part number. There should be a "Ice Chute Repair Kit" listed as that is how they come. Search internet for best price.
