I, apparently, have the same problem, but I'd like to explore this fuser roller system before ordering the part(s) in case the "broken tab" is not the ?only problem. But I can't find any instructions on specifically on how to disassemble the fuser roller unit and I don't want to add to my woes. Can anybody help me? Thank you!

This is exactly how mine is acting ... I tried to get the fuser out to see and it's attached with wires ... but was able to get it out far enough to see that the gear is broke like the pictures here showed. So I need to order a new fuser gear and then figure out how to get it out so I can replace the gear and then put it back in. Does anyone have any diagrams or instructions on how to take it out and replace the gear and then reassemble it and put it back into the XD100???

    Please email me at jclynn67@yahoo.com.

    Thanks,

    Jody

Here is a picture of the aforementioned broken gear, with a replacement gear visible for comparison:

From a different angle:

The printer repairman said that the plastic gear found in this and similar models can fail after as early as a few months of use. Best of luck!

The tab is broken on the inside of the gear. On that gear there is a tab that slides into the heat roll to drive it. It has sheared off.
Call this supplier
https://www.partsdrop.com/store/

And tell them the model number and what gear you need. Its not all that expensive. Less than $20.

Xerox XD100 paper jamming every time.

The fuser is the problem. Most likely the fuser will need to be rebuilt or replaced.
Google a business called The Parts Drop. they have either the parts or the unit.
You may just have to take the fuser out and remove a badly jammed piece of paper in that module.
Shut the machine off for a half an hour. Remove the back cover. You will then see on the left side a black plastic bracket with 3 plugs on it. Disconnect those 3 plugs. Then open the right side door and toward the top is the fuser. It has yellow caution HOT labels on it. There are 2 silver phillips screws holding it in. Remove the screws and then remove the fuser unit and see if there is a paper in there. There are 2 screws that you can remove and the fuser will kind of fold open to inspect for bent fingers or one out of place.

E2 error code on Xerox work centre xd series 120f copier

e2 is a paper jam problem. check that the paper guides in the cassette are positioned aginst the paper properly. Also remove the toner and drum cartridge. Clean all rubber rollers that you can get to with a damp cloth ( water). You are especially trying to clean the upper and lower registration rollers that "pinch" the paper. I hope that this helps.

Paper Jam E2 error

On this model, the fuser assembley is mounted to the machine mounts, two of them inboard and outboard.
If the fuser gear is not cracked, this fuser is driven by the white small drive gear on the machine.
This rests close the drive gear. Sometimes you can hear a thumping noise which is coming from the gear skipping over the fuser gear.
This gear needs to be replaced a very involved service process.
Call Xerox for further repair if this is the case. Also behind this gear are many other gears that can cause this same problem. Very involved and time-extensive to repair even for a trained Xerox technition.

Most likely the paper feed rollers are slick and simply not feeding paper. You can google a business called "the parts drop". They have an excellent site and parts availability.

This machine problem can be very involved.
A paper jam as described can be in any locations of the copier.
First of all when the toner-developer falls on the base of the paper feeder, it can contanimate all paper feed shafts and even sensors, and plug connections.
Worn feed rolls can cause the machine to jam. Clean the rollers and see if it corrects the problem.
A bent paper tray can cause the copy to skew, causing jams.
Sometimes the plasic paper path baffles are warped leaving narrow gaps in the paper feed path not allowing the paper to go through properly.
A bad paper feed sensor can cause inttermittant paper feed jams. This sensor is located just above the feed rolls. A involved process to take out without breaking the plastic components.
The machine has paper feed clutches located at the back of the feed rolls. To get to them it is also involved. Sometimes these clutches slip and will cause paper feed problems. There paper feed solinoids may operate intermittantly not allowing the paper feed clutch to operate correctly.
The main board can also cause these types of problems, not allowing the correct signal to operate the paper feed solinoids.
There is so much in this area to locate and isolate for paper feed problems.
If all else fails, call Xerox for a service repair.

It is entirely possible you have a small piece of paper that got ripped off somehow and it is now blocking the sensor leading the machine to think it has a paper jam.
Follow your jam clearance instructions again and pay close attention and rotate all movable parts in the jam area many times, then reboot the machine multiple times and allow the machine to completely come up before rebooting again, it may be necessary to reboot the machine 3 or 4 times to clear this error, each time following the jam clearance, if this doesn't resolve then you should have an expert take a look at the machine.

Paper folds and jams before

your description points to a fuser assembly problem which is right where you looked. I'm not sure what that plastic piece is from. if it is black, it probably came from the fuser. That is a replaceable part, but I'm not sure you can still purchase them from Xerox.

ERROR E2

The most likly problem by far, it a broken fuser drive gear.
That would be in the area where is says caution, heated surfaces.
Look on the inside, back side of that assembly, and you will find a gray/black gear either broken or with some teeth missing. You may even look inside toward the back on the frame and see pieces of that gear broken. Either that, or one of the stripper fingers on that roller are bent down blocking the paper in that area..
