Im sorry but Im getting tired of posting"stating" it could be this or maybe that..or maybe I am wrong these codes really dont have any meaning? Please Im asking anyone to set me strait firstname.lastname@example.org
I can tell you that if you first put some flux paste onto the pins of the chips before you remove them, then heat the flux with your solder iron to get a good flow. Then use de-solder braid to remove the solder on all the pins of the chips. Touch each pin to be sure its 100% loose, then the chips will come right out.
My new chips have not arrived yet, but I was told that you can order the chips with the -120 rather then -110 and get chips that are rated to take higher amount of current then the originals.
The 3 flash's of the power led do not necessarily indicate that these chips are your problem---the 3 flash just indicates that the system has gone into safety shut down. Many things can cause this to happen, but most often these STK chips go bad, and start to draw too much current and trigger the safety shut down.
One way to insure that the STK chips are indeed causing the 3 flash issues is to unplug the 3 convergence output lines going to the CRT boards. Do this with the power cord unplugged. Once they are off-line, power up the set. If all is well, the TV should come on and stay on and work just fine----other then the convergence will be completely WAY OFF.
If you see this result, you can be very confident in your STK's are bad and need replaced.
Get your chips from Panasonic or Pioneer if possible, they will cost about $40 each. The $7 thru $10 each off-brand ones are not as good for long-term use (from what I was told by my local tv repair guy).
Hope this is helpful.
