Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I was shooting pictures with my camera at a concert. I used the zoom feture to zoom in, and it caused a zoom error in the camera. I turned the camera off to reboot it, but the lens stayed out. When I tried to turn the camera back on, the camera came on, but the screen went black. I tried taking the battery out, and put it back in some time later (maybe 30 min.-1 hr.). This did not fix the problem, and I don't know what else to do. How do I fix this?

Hi it sounds like the lense has got knocked whilst the camera was one and the lense out, the damage may all ready be done but what you can try is when you switch it on get the lense and try pulling it out slightly and then when the camera is switched off try pushing the lense back in it may need turning slightly to allow it to go back in

if none of the above works then this means the lense motor has either been put under strain and shorted and no longer works or it just means the lense motor has packed up through no fault of your own.

now if pulling and pushing the lense dont solve the problem then it all depends on the make wether its worth repairing or not, if its a high end camera then most camera shops will repair it as the cost would work out worth doing,
if the camera is a mid to low end price range then knowbody will touch these as the cost would far out way the price of the camera so you need to think is it worth paying to get fixed and would the cost be more than the price of the camera.

if its a high end expensive camera then you will be able to get it fixed and it would work out cheaper than buying a new camera, if its a mid range to low end price range then you wont be able to get it fixed as they are classed as a throw away item,

if you let me know make and model i will be able to tell you if its going to be cost affective to get it repaired or if it will be better to sell it on the auction site as spares and cut your losses and get a new camera

let me know then i can assist you further ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

How to zoom to shoot sa picture

While in the shooting mode, you can use the zoom button on the back of the camera. If that does not work, when you press it. The camera is simply defect.
To zoom in on a picture you have to open it on a computer to tablet. I don't think the camera will zoom in on the camera. The pictures you see on the camera, only are "thumbnails" Very small pictures the display can show, but not enough information to enlarge.

Your lens was damaged and probably needs service. This could be expensive so get an estimate first to help you decide what to do.

This is the technicians code telling the tech where to start the repair. It is time to replace this camera since the cost of repair is more than the camera is worth.

No. You just rewound the film. The pictures you took are safe, but you probably 'lost' the rest of the film you did not shoot.

Best settings for a concert w/Canon Powershot Pro1?

A few settings:
Set the ISO to 400. Set the light balance to TUNGSTEN... that will make the colors accurate.
and then set the dial to P and turn your flash OFF.
then when taking photos, be sure to hold the camera VERY STILL. movements are magnified while zooming so be patient.
Also take alot of pictures ... it's better to take alot and then be able to pick the real good ones and toss out the lousy ones..
Also, be nice to those nearby by turning the MUTE to ON in the menu...this turns off the beeps and clicks... You can also turn off REVIEW... and keep the display closed. This will make taking pictures quicker because you're not waiting for the display to review each shot.

Have fun...

Shooting modes

The Shooting modes are as follows: PROGRAM AUTO (Factory default setting) Used for regular photography. The camera automatically makes the settings for natural color balance. Other functions, such as the flash mode and metering, can be adjusted manually. Portrait Suitable for taking a portrait-style shot of a person. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Landscape Suitable for taking photos of landscapes and other outdoor scenes. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Night scene Suitable for shooting pictures in the evening or at night. The camera sets a slower shutter speed than is used in normal shooting. If you take a picture of a street at night in any other mode, the lack of brightness will result in a dark picture with only dots of light showing. In this mode, the true appearance of the street is captured. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. If you use the flash, you can take pictures of both the subject and the background. Self Portrait Enables you to take a picture of yourself while holding the camera. Point the lens towards yourself and the focus will be locked on you. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. The zoom is fixed in the Wide position and cannot be changed
