Try to just fill the tank with water and set it upright on a table. If it leaks, the tank is cracked and needs to be replaced. Order one at kaz.com (search using model#). I have had this tank leak if the special cap is not sitting properly on the base. Make sure that the steam tower is properly locked in place before you place the water tank in the reservoir. The cap on the tank has a spring release that has to be correctly lined up so it only releases water when the water level in the reservoir drops.
The problem is the tank has a small leak, since it loses its vacuum the water leaks into the overflow chamber of the base. If there is any water in the unit after you shut if off it will eventually leak out from the base. I have 3 units and 2 of them have had tanks leak, be carefull when you fill them, they crack easy and can even leak where the white handle is attached. Unit has 3 yr warranty, Kaz will send you a new tank if you email them or call.
Good luck,
I'm thinking about upgrading to a different style, they are selling them on their website for $27 which isn't a bad deal.
Keep it empty or remove it from the base , when NOT in use.

I had the same problem. I put it on in the night and a couple hours later the people from the basement complained that water is coming through their ceiling. It was the humidifier. I cleaned it and tried it again but had the same problem made the carpet wet almost gone all the water out of it. It worked for a couple times in the first place when i bhought it but now it's just loosing the water somehow. Do not know what went wrong.. Any suggestions??? Now i guess i need to buy an other kind...
We have had the same thing happen. I have noticed that ours only does it when it is not running. I noticed water leaks down the front side where the water bowl meet the upper corner of the temp dial.
Have had the V745A since 12/1/08. (12/13 post) Unit leaks from the bottom reservoir and runs down the switch cover. Ran great on day one. The next day the unit leaked all over the floor. Took it apart, re-assembled and unit did not leak. Tonight, it will not stop leaking. I cannot figure this out to save my life. NOT HAPPY VICKS. You better get on a solution. Someone telling me to buy a new tank with a 12 day old unit is NOT the answer. I did not spend $42 for a wet floor, my 3 year old will wet the floor for free.
Ditto to all of the above. Has anyone gound a solution? Thanks,
Just purchased, used that night and worked great. Next night, started leaking. Next night, entire tank emptied out, all over dresser, onto the floor and down through the basement. Very unhappy with this product.
