If I point straight at the TV, I get no hand, but if I point the remote perpendicular to the left, then I get a hand. I've tried all the sync stuff, made sure the sensor bar is aligned correctly, and still no luck. I have to keep pointing to the left. Can't play games like that.

I had exactly same problem with Guitar Hero.
The buttons were working fine, but couldn't see the hand. It turned out that someone flipped the receiver bar on the top of the TV. Make sure the receiver bar is in the right orientation.

The problem could be the sensor bar, try plugging in someone elses which you know works, or use a wireless sensor.
If you have a bright room due to one or more light sources, turn off all lights and close drapes .Try syncing remotes, press red nsync button for 10 secs while you press red sync button on remotes.
Make sure the sensor is aligned proper, also if wireless that it is turned on. try using remotes on someone elses wii system.

This problem drives me nuts, we have just bought the wii and it takes a good couple of minutes to get the hand to show up and that's by doing all the things suggested. You would think with the technology and the cost of the thing you wouldn't have to do all this stuffing around just to get it going!

Had the same problem but found that pressing the red button under the flap at the front of the wii console at the same time as sync button on the controller seemed to work, for me anyway.

O.K, after having this problem myself and no amount of syncing or holding the red button for 5 secs working I found another cause/solution elsewhere. The motion sensors in the wiimote seem to jam/seize up so tapping/banging the controller on the floor can free them up. Obviously don't do this too hard and on a soft carpet is better but as a last resort it's worth a try.

Turn wii remote to the left so it will be perpendicular

Posted on Jun 29, 2008

U didnt turn it on and u need to put the batteries.

Posted on May 08, 2008

JOHNNY2Hotty is correct. I had the same problem but on the wii there is a little thing that you have to open up on the front of it and it shows a red button. Hold the button down for five seconds and it should work, it worked for me! Good luck to you all and I hope this helps!! ^_^

I had the same problem where the hand would only show up on the wii menu by pointing it due left. I tried syncing it, replacing batteries, turning on/off the console. It finally started working when I just unplugged and plugged back in the sensor bar from the console while it was on. Hope it helps.

Open up the back of the Wii remote and hold down the small red button by the batteries. I had this problem when I bought a second-hand remote and even the reset trick didn't work. If this continues to happen, please help both of us!

make sure the sensor bar is right above or below your tv for the best results.. it may take a min for the hand to show up.. aiming the remote can get tricky..lol

Wii remote wont work after installing wii fit

From Nintendo:
  1. Turn the Wii console power OFF by pressing the POWER Button on the front of the console. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for a few seconds. After a few seconds have elapsed, plug the cord back into the wall outlet.

  2. Turnthe power of the Wii console ON. When you see the Health and Safetyscreen, open the small flap on the front of the Wii console to find ared button labeled "SYNC." Press and hold the SYNC Button down for 15seconds. This will clear all the syncs on the Wii, allowing you to geta clean start to begin the process described below.

  3. After holding the SYNC Button on the Wii console down for at least 15 seconds, you can now "re-sync" your Wii Remotes:

    1. Withthe first Wii Remote you wish to sync, remove the battery cover on theback of the Wii Remote to find a small red button just below thebatteries.

    2. Press and release the small red button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote; the blue lights on the front of the Wii Remote will blink.

    3. Quickly press and release the red SYNC button on the inside of the white flap on the front of the Wii console (picture).

    4. When the Player LED blinking stops and stays lit, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).
    5. This sync procedure (steps "a" through "d" above) must be followed for each additional Wii Remote added to the system.

I bought wii at pawn shop and have no instructions. The game is in and shows up in little screen and thats all i can get it to do

The first thing would be to open the little door on the front of the Wii, and push the red button. Then open the battery compartment on the Wii remotes and push the red button there. This will 'sync' the remotes to the console.

It would probably be a good idea to install brand new batteries as well to be certain they are good.

After you've done those things, you'll need to move the remote rather briskly side to side for a couple of seconds so that a little hand shows up on the screen. Then move it towards the upper left corner where the game image is and click on it. This should bring up the next screen and you'll just follow the promopts from there.
