You need to "pop" off the plastic button that you would push and remove the screws that hold the gear hub in place, remove the pin from inside the gearcase. I would recommend also checking the gear for wear and when replacing I always used a new button, just put something underneath the pin to hold it and push the new button on. test before running tool. While mowing the drive belt tightner spring broke. I bought a replacement but the blades will not engage. The drive belt has been routed properly. it seems as though the blade's drive shaft will not spin.

Check and see if the shear pin has broken. If the pulleys spin but not the blades then the shear pin in the pulley or shaft has broken.

The spring loaded clamp sleve mechanically holds the blade pin down to hold the blade in place. It doesn't pull it up to release the blade but simply lets the pin float freely so the blade can be removed.

I have a Kitchenaid 550 watt 6 qt. stand mixer model #KB26GIXER. I tried to use it this morning and couldn't get the beater blade to lock in place. Isn't there supposed to be a spring and washer...

There is only one pin on the beater shaft to hold the beater in place.
There is no spring or washer on the shaft.

To Attach Flat Beater,Wire Whip, or Spiral Dough Hook, simply
1. Slip flat beater on beater shaft.

2. Turn beater to right, hooking beater over the pin on shaft.

Shaft turns while trying to remove blade on B&D MM875 elec. mower

Here's the scoop on the MM875: it has a plastic piece called a "blade insulator" (part # 241381-01) that "locks" the shaft to the blade, so that you can remove the nut by stopping or blocking the blade. If it has been damaged or stripped out, then stopping the blade won't do anything. However, the metal spacer directly under the nut IS still locked to the shaft (because of its shape), so you can use a pipe wrench or something to hold that in place and unscrew the nut. You might even be able to get someone in a home improvement store to do this for you. But you will still need to replace the insulator, which is only a few dollars.

My 10hp Tecumseh, model E665F snow thrower stopped throwing, the blades stopped turning, please help

you've probably cut a shear pin, which is what they are designed to do... If the blades spin on the shaft, look for the whole the pin used to go through and line it up with the whole in the shaft, replace pin and go on with your day.

Overloaded grinder no longer turns after puff of smoke!

the shear pin, which goes through the grinder blade base and the motor shaft has 'sheared' off the protect the motor from overload. The metal bits of the pin need to be removed from both the grinder part and the shaft, a new one inserted. It is a 'pressed fit', so it will be hard to remove.
After the bits are removed, a common 'roll pin' of the proper diameter should be a suitable replacement

I dont believe there is a shear pin on your blade spindles, what I have found on these machines is the the spindle nuts on the balde spindles sometimes loosen or wear and no longer squeeze the pulley on the blade spindle. To make this process easy on your self you need to tighten these with a impact wrench. However if you dont have access to a impact wrench you can use hand tools and block the blades you are trying to tighten with a wooden block. Just make sure you block the blade you are trying to tighten

On the spring loaded one a metal pin will fit through a hole in the black to keep it in place. Ensure your blade is not broken and has a hole for the pin to go through.

If the threads are not stripped on the knob or shaft, just screw it on clock-wise.
If the threads are stripped on the shaft, it must be replaced, same with knob.
To replace the shaft (if the knob is off) just pull it down in the film compartment. now there is a spring to hold the shaft up or down if the new shaft has a beveled shoulder just turn the shaft while pushing it back up. If no beveled shoulder is on the shaft then with a long needle or pin hold the spring back while pushing the shaft back up. Don't bend the spring. just move it out of the way.
