With the phone in standby, press and hold [dnd] on the base. You will hear a confirmation tone and the [dnd] LED will go out.

I found this elsewhere:
I've fixed this by taking the phone apart, finding where the pressure pads are under the button. I glued a small piece of aluminum foil on to where the pressure pad is. Aluminum foil is a good electrical conductor. It's a delicate process. I don't recommend doing this unless you know what you're doing. But if your handset is already dead/useless, give it a try. Put everything back together and the buttons work again.

E4 Error is showing on Uniden 5.8 GHz expandable phone. Power may have been disconnected. An ideas on a solution?

The handset displaying the message may have lost its memory of the base station. Take it over to the base station and reset it as when you first associated the handset with the base.

I hope this helps.

E 4 ERROR CODE?

Customer support 1 800 297-1023 told me that this means the base unit is defective and can't be repaired. I also was told that none of my remote units are compatable with other models.

Do you possibly have the phone set on Pulse dialing when your phone company only supports Tone (or vice-versa)? Hit Menu, select Global Setup, then Dial Mode, and see which is selected. Try the other and see if that fixes it.
