Vacuum is sucking but dirt is just shooting out behind the vacuum

I have a Eureka bagless altima, when using it the dirt/debris just shoots out behind the vacuum, underneath. All filters have been cleaned and all hoses are clear. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. We've made sure that nothing is blocking the hose, we've cleaned out the filters and tried everything but it's still spitting dirt back out. We haven't found any way to fix it yet.

I am having the same problem. Mine is sucking up the dirt, but as i sweep you can see dust flying in front of the vacuum. Leaves a dusty smell in the house. I have taken every filter out and cleaned it like the manual says and unclogged everything the manual said to check. But it continues to do it. I love this vacuum when it is working correctly, but it's getting frustrating!

Besides this thing just shooting debris out the back (yes I cleared ALL the filters), it wont suck dog hair thru the hose (shorthair breed), its clogging where the hose disconnects, it seems this lower section should unscrew or otherwise detach so one can clear the clog but I can't figure it out. All the manuals on the Eureka site fail to launch as they're not posted correctly - I get an error: not %PDF. I have a 25 year old old-school Eureka upright that works way better!

I am having the exact same problem and no matter how many times you "unclog" it, it just clogs immediately. What a piece of junk. I am done with Eureka, it is time for a real vacuum that can handle dog hair.

    Might better use a broom!!

I bought this same vacuum and have all the same problems. It seems it is always the filter but if it out and use the air hose and clean it it really really well then it sucks really well it will pick up anything but who wants to always do this. As one person asked about the bare floors not working well I read on another blog that company knows it does not work well on barefloors but has failed to metion this. One more thing besides the clog always being in the back were the hose connects I always find a clog in the yellow part above the canister. I always pull out so much crap there. Oh sorry one more thing I found that helped with the power was that I completely took the duster part completely off and just use the hose. Hope you have better luck than I do or did..

I wish I had seen this site sooner. My same vacuum has not been working well since this past summer (it's now Christmas!). I was getting ready to research vacuums to purchase with my Christmas money and came across this site. I was able to open up the vacuum and reach inside and I removed so much gunk that it filled up almost half a garbage bag. I then plugged it in and it worked a bit better. I turned it off and found more gunk had become lodged in the same spots I had pulled it from before. I removed that and turned it back on and voila! The obnoxiously loud motor sound was gone and I could see stuff being sucked into the bagless area for the first time in months. It works like brand new. I had another vacuum by the same brand for 10 years, and it always was clogged but worked fine after unclogging it. The Altima just clogged in different places so I thought it was broken. It works GREAT now!! Thanks for the advice, all!!!!!!!

I had the same problem with mine. The hose was clogged where it meets the brush, check for clog there. Also take out the "dirt bucket" and reach up above where that goes and there will be a yellow circle shaped thing, twist it to the left and it should come out (i took mine apart to get this out) you will want to pull all of the dirt from around it. Also disconnect the hose from the back, just pull off the clear thing and un-attach it from the vacuum, check that for clogs also. This worked for me, after I unclogged everything it worked like new.

HI, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

Vacuum maintenance is basically a general procedure and requirements for all units, but your Eureka Altima Vacuum can be easily maintained and by doing so properly you will make sure your unit performs at it's maximum capacity and to last longer.

After every use, make sure to empty your unit's dust cup. Allowing for fine dust and debris to rest in your unit's dust cup for a long period may cause your unit to become clogged.

It is recommended to wash and clean your unit's filter screen weekly. To do so, tap your filter screen outdoor to take off any excess dirt and debris and then clean under running water until the water comes out clean. Allow the filter screen to fully dry before inserting it back into the unit.

Foam and cloth filters should also be washed and dried weekly, by following the same steps from cleaning the filter screen. Do not use any soap, dishwasher, dryer or washing machine to do so. Allow your filters to air dry for 24 hours before re-installing them in your Eureka.

Replace your HEPA filter and belts every 6 months. Last, make sure to clear your roller brush of any tangles hair strands or debris monthly and to replace at least every year.

You can purchase direct your replacement belts and HEPA filter from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for readers, use code: FIXYA10

Eureka Maxima 12 amp vaccum cleaner is not picking what can be done to make it pick up?

remove and clean the filter ( tap and brush filter or use a air compressor to blow out filter ) --- also check the vacume hose near the floor attachment for any dirt and debris that may be clogging the line. this should bring your vacume to full operation.

When I vacuum the dirt and trash come flying out the back of the vacuum, what can I do to fix this?

The filter behind the unit is out of alignment or damaged.
so remove and clean the collected dirt, replace the filter, look for damage here to make the sucked dirt fly over.

The belt is probably worn, stretched or broken that is why it is not picking up. Here is a link to the owners manual which has instructions and a link to the belt you need.

I need to know how to remove the dirt container on the eureka bagless vacuum. It says that it is easy to remove, yet we cant figure it out. is there some trick to it that we dont know?

there is a lever at the bottom of the dirt cup, turn it to the left and pull out the dirt cup.note while you have the dirt cup out make sure you clean all the filters there is one right above the dirt cup pull out on the right side and there is a filter on it and at the bottom right below the dirt cup there is a door that says hepa.clean that one to.then your good to go

My eureka 2961avz bagless vacuum has no suction

Usually clogs are in the dirt inlet by the brush roll, or in the hose. Take the hose off from the bottom and see if there is suction, if not, then the hose is clogged. If suction there, then it is lower. Also is the brush roll turning, if not, that could be your problem.
