Question about Sunbeam Kitchen Appliances - Others

1 Answer

I have had the Sunbeam breadmaker for about 6 months and love it. Lately however I have noticed that the loaf is collopsing leaving a large indent at the top. I tried making a smaller loaf thinking that the large loaf was too big for the maker and the top wasn't getting enough heat. It collapsed again. Could it be the recipe I'm using or a new jar of yeast? It didn't do this originally.

Why does my Sunbeam 5891 bread maker reset itself a few minutes into baking a loaf ?

If you have another setting, try that and see if it works without reset.

Error code E:02 on Sunbeam Bakehouse BM3500S

That is a temperature warning that is an automatic feature on bread machines. What the machine is telling you is that the oven chamber is still too hot from baking the last loaf. It does that to prevent you from starting another loaf and having that loaf fail due to the high heat killing the yeast. If you want to bake more than one loaf push the STOP button till it beeps, unplug the machine, raise the lid, and leave it open for no less than 20 minutes. It should work fine by then if not let cool off another 10 minutes. It will be cool enough by ½ an hour to start another one.

We have been delighted with our breakmaker until lately when the paddle stays inside the bread when we lift it out of the breadmaker. When we retrieve the paddle this leaves a large hole in the bottom...

You haven't stated the make and model, but your problem is entirely normal operation on most breadmakers. In your case it's likely to be due to some wear in whatever holds the paddle onto the shaft, but to determine the exact cause is impossible by remote diagnosis as it requires a physical examination of the parts, sorry.

Remote fault diagnosis has it's limitations, unfortunately.

Banana bread recipe for sunbeam 5895

I have made the following recipe in my West Bend machine with great results. I just got a Sunbeam 5895 at a garage sale - it works great - just wanted a different "shape" loaf! I'm going to use this recipe in my Sunbeam - don't see why it won't work!

Here's the recipe!
1/2 cup softened butter, cut into small pieces for good blending
1 cup mashed ripe banana (personal note: if my ripe bananas don't measure up to 1 cup, I add enough milk to make it 1 cup. Seems to be okay)
2 eggs, large, slightly beaten
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Grease inside of pan and knead bar generously with vegetable shortening (I just spray with Pan Spray). All all ingredients in order listed above to pan. Lock pan into bread machine. Program for quick bread. After a few minutes of mixing, I usually take a rubber spatula and scrape down the sides and stir in any flour that has not been completely mixed. I didn't do this once and ended up with a loaf that had flour coated corners!

Good Luck! Enjoy!

Paddle comes off inside bread

We have had a number of bread makers and this is the way they work - the bread cooks and the paddle has to pull out somehow so it just rips a hole in the bread.
We found it better to let the machine do all the mixing etc. then my wife takes the dough out and puts most of it in a loaf pan and some in the form of buns in another pan. Works better for us & the bread is a more "normal" shape rather than the odd shape produced in the breadmaker. Also the crust isn't so tough when done our way.

Kneading blade stays in the bread

I had that problem with my Zoji breadmaker. I sprayed a little non-stick spray on the blad and it worked. You can also spray the pan.

Generally, an HHH error code means the machine is sitll too hot from making the previous loaf. Keep the door open for a bit and allow it to cool down.

Dough blade

This shouldn't have happened. Return it to the store. Don't worry about the teflon. It is not toxic. The only time it can be dangerous is when it is overheated it produces a toxic gas. Eating small pieces is harmless.
