SOURCE: Evaporator Motor & Fan

hi,

you can try to completely defrost the fridge by unplugging it for a day and put you groceries in another fridge, sometime ice dams build up in those and freeze next to the fan blades and cause alot of noise, if its squealing, then its the motor for sure, evaporator motors are usually pretty easy to replace once you study where its at, usually the whole top or bottom and back of freezer has to come out then the motor and fan are right there, keep the fan blade assembly because you put that on the new motor, be extremely careful once you have the bottom and sides out because the coils will be vulnerable to anything if you hit them go to www.sears.com and go to parts area, theres a sears repair store in our town , hopefully in yours or just call around, dont forget to unplug it! hope that helps

SOURCE: Fan noise in freezer of my GE side-by-side refridgerator

You don't have to worry about the ice and frost, Your heater does that for you Your heater comes on and defrost every day. You just need to tighten the screws and clean up the vent where the noise is coming from but I wouldn't worry about it. The temperature on your fridge and freezer is running optimal, You know the saying, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it....just tap the vent covers every few days.

SOURCE: My frig. is not cooling

Sorry to hear about your problem. Sounds like you have a defrost issue. Hence your unit is not defrosting. All of this apply's if your freezer side has ice on it. If not. you have other issues
Here is a list of some things that can go wrong.
1. Defective heat coil
2. Defective defrost timer
3. Defective defrost sensor
You should call a service company to resolve your issue.

Since I tried to help you, Please help me and Rate/Vote on the response. Thanks

My whirlpool side by side fridge/freezer is making a loud noise while running.

If the noise is coming from inside, the evaporator fan motor (the fan motor that circulates cool air located in the freezer section) may be the culprit. If noise is on the outside, the condenser fan motor may be the problem. This is the fan motor that removes the heat from the refrigerator to the room.

Loud noise in fridge like fanwhen it boosts. cuts out when door opened

The loud noise is probably coming from the freezer/evaporator fan motor in the freezer compartment.

Contact an appliance service company.

Howling noise from freezer fan, GE side-by-side

Replace the fan, Remove the evaporator cover in the back of freezer, and probably another cover for the fan. Unplug your refer first. Usually their are two screws holding the fan bracket to the wall or mount. disconnect the wires, and replace. Their is a newer model evap fan motor that does not have wiring terminals to disconnect, it is hard wired together and you have to practically remove everything in the freezer compartment to get at it. You have to cut wiring and splice the new fan motor in. Fairly tough job. Usually an evaporator fan motor bearing fails from the refer being moved or in storage for a few days at least with the doors closed and the unit unplugged. This allows all that moisture that was in the freezer to get into the metal parts of the fan motor and cause this problem. To prevent this always block the doors open if your refer is going to be off for a few days. This will allow the unit to dry out without damage. Sometimes it was just a bad motor from the factory. I have a HotPoint side by side refrigerator. Model # CSX22GAS, my ice is melting and in the freezer section there is a loud noise. as if the motor is running hard.

Below is a link courtesy of www.repairclinic.com, that shows the evaporator fan blade. This may have come loose from the fan motor shaft and may be striking the fan shroud or rattling on the motor shaft
A loose fan blade cause elevated temps. If the fan blade is loose, replace it, not repair it, to avoid further problems.

Freezer making a loud noise.

Sounds as if the evaporator fan has shaft play or the blades are out of balance or striking something. When you open the door the pressure is equal but with the door closed the fan needs to push the air through the evaporator and return again and circle through fan again. I think soon would be a good time to unplug the refrigerator and remove the back panel covering the evaporator and fan motor to inspect the fan, shaft play and the evaporator for frost buildup or any obstruction of air flow. Thanks, sea Breeze

Hi, Remove the rear inside freezer panel and you will be able to see the evaporator fan motor. The fan motor is what is squeeling.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Noise

I believe you will trace this noise back to the evaporator fan motor inside the freezer making the noise. If you agree that the noise is coming from the evaporator fan motor inside the freezer it is not the motor that is responsible. Your model has a Main Mother Board on the outside rear wall of the freezer down low (about 10 screws hold square cover on over board). The Main Board is causing your noisy evaporator fan motor. Use caution when handling any electronic circuit board. Follow antistatic cautions. Static electricity in your body can damage these valuable circuit boards.
