Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Greetings I have a defy fridge making a clicking sound after every 5 minutes but not cooling its a defy model c317

That clicking sound is probably the overload breaker cutting off the power to the compressor for some reason. It clicks in because it senses not enough cooling but clicks back off after a few seconds because of overload on the compressor for some reason. It tries over-and-over.

Your compressor has failed in some way or the expansion valve for the coolant is not releasing the pressure as designed. This causes high back pressure on the compressor and it can't push against it, so it stalls and draws high current until the safety breaker kicks out.

I'm wondering, does it not cool at all or is it cooling a little but not near enough?

Leave the unit unplugged for at least 4 hours then plug it back up, if it still clicks and doesn't cool, the compressor is likely burned out. It sounds as though it just overheated and is tripping out on overload, it should restart and run fine if it didn't get too hot. Good Luck...

Edge star not cooling and clicking sound

the clicking sound may be the condenser fan. if the compressor is running, check to see if there is dust or ice blocking the air flow on the condensor or if the fan is moving slow. this will prevent cooling. remove any obstructions and replace the fan if necessary

Doesn't cool

Check your thermostat setting. the clicking sound is probably the compressor un-loading.

If you set the thermostat higher, the compressor will not turn off too soon.
