I dont have a disk to install my wep key to stop people from stealing my internet

open a web browser window on the connected computer and type http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar and press enter. A window will pop up prompting you for a username and password to access the configuration page for your router. Enter admin for both the username and password.

If it not accept then type user name Admin leave the password box blank and then click ok.

If it still does not accept it that means you have changed your user name and password of linksy.
To get your linksys default settings you will have to reset your linksys router by inserting a paperclip into the small Tiny hole into the back of the Linksys router for 10 sec.

Now you try to access router by user name and password which is mentioned above.

now you will have Linksys router page and now click on Security seetings on top

choose WPA PSK security settings

Now it will as you the security key

Enter any security minimum of 8 Characters anything you like.

click save settings on the bottom.

now try to connect to your Wireless network

it will ask you the security key

Enter your security and your wireless network is secured now.

here is also the Linksys Tech support no. as well. to know your exact user name and password of linksys and other details.

Hooking up PS3 linksys and have a great ethernet connection to play online, but when try to do updates of game can't get the playstation network to update or stay on line long enough to do, had outside...

Have you already setup the router? If so then you need to get the (WEP) password you had created. If not you might want to open up a browser window and in the url address window type in the following:

192.168.1.1

A username and password prompt will open and this is where you would place the password "admin" into the password area. Leave the username blank.

You then need to go into the settings and set you Security for the wireless portion. That key would be the one you will use when the psp ask for the password.

Hope that helps you out!

When I tried to download javas new update it sent me a message saying windows installer is not opeating properly. I'm running Vista home basic. Can you help

Try to ensure that Windows Installer service is running, or force start it. 1.. Open Run, and type in services.msc then press Enter. Alternatively, go
to Control Panel -> Administrator Tools -> Services.
2.. Locate Windows Installer in the all install services listing.
3.. Verify that the Status is Started. If the Status column is blank,
right click on Windows Installer and select Start.
4.. If you get error trying to force start the Windows Installer service,
try to change the Startup Type to Automatic (default is Manual), and then
restart the computer.

I would suggest you to run SFC scan which would scan for corrupt system files on the computer and replace them.
Steps to perform SFC scan:

1. Click the Start button
2. From the Start Menu, Click All programs followed by Accessories
3. In the Accessories menu, Right Click on the Command Prompt option
4. From the drop down menu that appears, Click on the 'Run as administrator' option
5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled you will be asked for authorization prior to the command prompt opening. You may simply need to press the Continue button if you are the administrator or insert the administrator password etc.
6. In the Command Prompt window, type: sfc /scannow and then press Enter
7. A message will appear stating that 'the system scan will begin'
8. Be patient because the scan may take some time
9. If any files require replacing SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue
10. If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"
11. After the scan has completed, Close the command prompt window restart the computer and check.

Linksys Wireless WRT54G Router Won't Connect

Here's something you can do.
First, power off the modem and the linksys.  Then swap the yellow cable with the blue cable (this time, connect yellow cable to port 2 of Linksys)
Now, turn on the Modem first... wait about 1 minute, then turn on the Linksys.
1. Log into the router and go to "Status" tab.
2. You should see something called Internet and under it Configuration type.  If all you see is 0.0.0.0 without a gateway address, it didn't work
3. You can also see 2 buttons at the bottom of the screen.  Click on "DHCP Release", then "DHCP renew"
4. look at the configuration type and see if it is no longer 0.0.0.0 Then try connecting to the internet to a website you have not visited (do not try the same websites as before when you initially tested).

Is there a way to use command prompt to check the linksys username and password? we can't recover it

Here is a solution besides command prompt :

Reset the system If you can't find or remember the password, it's best if you just reset everything. All you need to do is press the reset button. Hold it for 90 seconds or so. Let the button go. This should allow you to reconfigure the system. If the system does not reset, press the button again. Hold it down for a couple of minutes and release. Check the manual for a guide on how to reconfigure the system.
To manage LinkSys router passwords, connect the Ethernet ports to the computer. Go online and log in to http://192.168.1.1/. You'll see a dialog box appear. It will ask for the username and password. Just enter "admin" for both fields. In some cases only the password field needs an entry. Just enter "admin".

If this was helpful then give me the thumbs up if it wasn't ask the question in more detail describing your situation.

Unable to Connect to Internet

Make sure that the cable/dsl modem is connected to the blue port on the Linksys router that say's internet and your computer to any of the yellow ethernet ports. Check what is the IP address of your computer by typing ipconfig on the command prompt(assuming your using Windows, to open command prompt click start and go to Run and type cmd, a black windows will open normally it will say C:\Document\Settings\Owner>. Your computer should obtain an IP address of 192.168.1.x, open Internet Explorer and type this address on the address bar http://192.168.1.1 when you get a prompt for a username and a password, leave the username blank and type "admin" for a password from there you can now check the entire settings of your linksys router, check the Status and make sure your router is getting a valid Internet IP address if not you may require manually setting up the configuration of your ISP on the router.

Linksys wrt54gs Set up

1. Unplug your cable/dsl modem.
2. Unplug your Router
3. Plug in your modem ... wait for it to come completely up.
4. Plug in your WRT54G Router and wait for it to come up.
5. Go to your 1st PC and get into Command Prompt. Type is ipconfig /release .... then type ipconfig /renew
6. Check for internet connectivity.
Repeat step 5 for for your second PC.

If your second PC is wireless go into the wireless config utility and search for access points. Connect to your Access point and check for connectivity.

If you still have no internet. Press the reset button on the back of the router for 45 seconds while it is powered on. Repeat steps 5 and 6.

Be sure to lock down your wireless SSID so neighbors and people passing by are unable to connect to your access point and do bad things on your network.
