Question about Franklin Spelling Ace SA-206S

The on off switch in my Franklin Wordmaster only works intermittently. I would like to clean the contact that this makes work but cannot take the device apart. I have removed the 2 screws in the rear but this obviously is not enough. Any suggestions. Tom

Take a sharp cutter blade and try to separate the two two from the joint ...u have to put a bit effort as there are plastic locks to hold the two together

Thanks for your help. I have previously managed to separate the two halves on 3 sides but it is the bottom that is very difficult to separate. I have tried but just feel that if I apply any more pressure something is going to break. I will however try again. Tom

check for any hidden screw beneath the label of the product on the lower panel....

Many, Many thanks. The screws were situated under the rubber feet. I had tried removing the feet before but it seemed as though they were almost moulded in but in the end they were only glued in. I will now attempt to clean the contact. Wherever you are you have been very helpful. I am domiciled outside Aberdeen in Scotland............Tom

I too have Franklin Wordmaster plus, which only starts intermittently
to open I took out to screws at top, removed 2 small round feet at bottom, removed 2 screws nderneath, prised back off, then removed futher 6 screws from circuit board, this revealed on/off button, cleaned contacts, put back together, still only works intermittently,
anyone got any ideas ?

Machine runs cold water but will not make ice, pump runs and everything else works.

Check the condenser coil to make sure it is cleaned out, also make sure the condenser fan is no dropping out. Next check to make sure the water fill valve is not seeping water past into the sump tray if so than it will not freeze, Water will get cold but not cold enough to freeze check water temp in sump tray with a thermometer to make sure it is getting down to 32 deg.

Everytime I play on my Fender Frontman 212R the amp switches betweeen the overdrive and clean channels. I can't even switch between the channels on my own. It does it itself. I need help fixing this...

You don't say if you are using a footswitch or not... If you are, the switch, cables and connectors are suspect.

If you are NOT using the controller, the switch contacts on the footswitch jack in the 212 are suspect as being intermittent contacts.

If the contact is not making, the OD switch on the unit will NOT work either.

These jacks, and their contacts are JUNK and often cause problems.

Open the unit and increse the tension of the contact springs.

Gets "locked" into park. not every time. intermittant problem. can "wiggle" it to get it able to start.

Two items can cause this problem.

A failing ignition switch and/or a failing brake switch.

I would pass a vacuum over the ign switch and the shift lever area to get the dust out.
The brake switch is hard to get to.

Pull the brake switch connector out and clean off the contacts.

Make sure you clean the switch and the contacts.

Reconnect and test again.

Check the brake light to make sure they are working.

Intermittent loss of mobility, get beep beep sound

I sounds like the switch is not making contact relieably. Make sure your key is clean and if that does not work, than the switch inside the console will need to be replaced. Contact Pride Mobility for a technician local to you.
