I have a black screen, I replaced the 4 capacitors with one 470uf 35v as I read on line, but it didn't do the fix, what else can I do?

I need to be more explicit about the cap I installed, 1 source said that I can replace the 4 100uf/25v with one 470uf/25v but he specified that it has to be Panasonic FM or FC series, I went to Radio shack and bought this capacitor but I don't know if it is FM or FC and the guy at the store didn't know either. Could this be the reason why my monitor is still not working?
Another source says that the four capacitors must be replaced by new 4 ones. All of this is on the inverter board.
    Any thoughts out there?

Also found somebody advising to check a fuse (F1) next to these capacitors, here is what I got: Power on: 12v on one side and 4.5v on the other.
Power off 12v on both sides. is this ok?

Hey palaboy, thanks for your interest on helping.
    1. Can you be more specific with this? "there are ( might be ) to sets of 5V supply.

    one Direct from SMPS out

one coming from the 12V supply "
    2. I didn't replace 1000 uf with 470 uf, I replaced four 100 uf with a 470 uf.
I'll do the flashlight test and get back to you.
    3. How can I make sure if it's really a fuse?
    Thanks.

Hello,

The next thing to try would be to resolder all of the connections on the transformers in your monitor. If you can take a few pictures of the board and email them to me I will mark the points to check and send it back to you.

Kenwood heater will not turn on when plugged in

FIXED
I have a deal with this kind corporates sabotaging for 2-3 times a month fixing computers and monitors.
The circuit boards for many BRAND NEW household devices, PCs, Computer monitors, dehumidifiers etc. purposely designed to work a little bit after warranty period and die quietly
Heater EW7507EK fixing. (soldering required)
Step 1. Unscrew 2 screws on the bottom of the face side.
Step 2. Mark and Unplug 3 wires from heating element. Unscrew the metal cover from circuit board. Immediately you'll see small black cylinder (CAPACITOR 470mF x 35V). Retail cost about $1- $3
Check this - the top of this capacitor rounded, not flat. That is mean it was "quietly blowup" and electrolyte evaporate.
Step 3. solder new capacitor.

Stuck in standby

There is a "reliability kit" sold for these which consists of 8 electrolytic capacitors for the power supply that may cure the problem. Other times more extensive damage to the switch mode power supply needs additional parts You can try replacing the 4 470Uf/ 35v and the 4 470Uf/ 25v caps.

Screen is blank.

Could have blown some capacitors inside the monitor.
I just fixed one today that had no power, the blue ring around the power button didn't even light up when plugged in.
I open it and found 3 bulgingcapacitors on the power/inverter board.
They were all 25V 470uF rated capacitors.
Went to radioshack and found 2 35V 470uf, got them at $1.29 each, then I found 1 50V 470uF out of a dc car power adapter for an ipod, it was as close as I could find.
Replaced the 3 broken/bulging ones with the new/salvaged ones, put it back together, plugged it in and the blue light came on when I pushed the power button.
Plugged it in to my laptop with vga cable, and it works great.

6800uf/16v Capacitor?

You can use a higher voltage capacitors without problems its the value of uf that should remain the same. But sometimes you can use a higher uf like a 330uf can be replaced with 470uf but never go lower than the original value on uf and voltage. But you can safely use 6800uf 25v or 35v.

Can changing 3 capacitors on motherboard solve my problem?

We had a power surge and my VL2018W LCD monitor stopped working... blank screen and flashing blue light.

I carefully opened up the back and found the power board (the one the AC plug goes into). There were about 5 electrolytic capacitors that were bulging (but not ruptured). There were 3 with the values listed by the original poster (470uF @ 25V) and 2 with 1000uF @ 10V.

I scrounged a couple of 2200uF@10V caps for the last two and bought 3 470uF @ 35V caps from Radio Shack (P/N 272-1030).

Luckily, the monitor came right back up and seems to be OK. It was out of warranty, so there wasn't a big risk.

Just increasing the working voltage won't do that much for you. If any caps are bad, just replacing them with the same value is good enough, but a higher working voltage won't hurt (usually means a bigger cap).

Good luck.
