Question about Maytag M7DH65B2A Dehumidifier

1 Answer

We have had a drain tube connected and working well for the past 5 years. Suddenly, the water is now collecting inside the water tray and won't drain out to the tube. We flushed the tube and it is clear. We even cleaned the filter just in case. Any other ideas?

My dehumidifier is leaking from the bottom. Was working fine. Bucket is only collecting about an inch of water. any suggestions

The problem is due to clogged tubing inside the unit. To solve the problem, do the following:

Remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder cavity. You will see either a drain hole or small tubing that drains the water into the bucket. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reinstall the bucket, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor it for any leakage.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

I hope I was able to help you solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Dehumidier works fine! However it leaks water even when the bucket is empty and started. Some water collects in bucket but most runs out on the floor. What is wrong?

The drain hole of drain tube, that transports water to the bucket is clogged.

To solve this problem, do the following:

I hope this helps you solve the problem.

The water/mositure won't discharge through the hose into the drain; instead, it collects in the bucket.

Hi! Either the hose is clogged or the hose connection on the unit or the interior tubing to the hose connection is clogged. OR the hose is over 5 feet long. OR the hose is not sloped downward from the unit. The unit depends on gravity to drain thru a hose.

To clear a clog in the hose connection and/or the interior tubing:

Use an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar that is appropriately sized to fit the inside of hose connect and tubing (NO wire coat hangers though). Carefully insert the Zip Tie into the hole and continue to push it in, until you reach a bend in the tubing. You must, gingerly work it past the bend, until the Zip Tie bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Slowly pull it back out while rotating (twisting it). This will help dislodge any clogs. When you start to reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow.

Hope this helped you to solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I want to add a drainage tube to the unit so I don't have to keep emptying the collection container. How do you de-activiate the "full bucket " switch? I have the Kenmore Model #...

Roren, once the hose is properly installed, it's not necessary to deactivate the bucket switch. Unless, the tubing inside the hose connection is clogged, the water should drain through the hose. However, the hose should not be longer than 5 feet and should drain down and away from the unit. As the drainage relies entirely on gravity.

If you have already tried this and was unsuccessful, the hose connection drain is clogged. You can use an 18" plastic Zip Tie, inserted carefully into the drain hole connection to loosen the clog and remove it. But, you'll have to gingerly work it past a bend in the tunbe, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then while pulling it back out twist the Zip Tie to dislodge the clog. As you reach the end of the Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow. Also, check the hose for clogs before connecting to the unit.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

My whirlpool dehumidifier is leaking water from the bottom whether or not the hose is hooked up - is there a seal inside I need to get to - it is 3.5 years old.

sidman22, more than likely, the drain tube or hole that delivers the water into the collection bucket is clogged. To clear the clog, use an 18 -20" long plastic Zip Tie, that will fit into the drain tube or hole. DO NOT use a wire coat hanger for this. Carefully insert the Zip Tie into the hole or tube and gingerly work it in until you reach the bend of the tube. This is where it gets a little tricky, because you must get past that bend, to be effective. Once the Zip Tie has reached it's limited reach or it has bottomed out. Slowly pull it back out, while rotating it. This will remove any clogs, so be prepared for water to follow.

Hope this helps you solve that leaky situation. Please let me know.

Dehumidifier leaks

Either there is a hole/leak in the tray, or the drain line is clogged. You are giong to have to access the tray to determine this: standing water is plugged line and no water is busted pan. This will determine your avenue of approach.....

Dehumidifier collecting water in container

If you have the hose drain tube connected, drainage will defer to it first. If you remove the hose drain tube, the place where it connects to the drain pan drips into the container instead.

Mine leaks. Had leaked at other times but i took the vacuum cleaner to the front drain spout, that leaks into the removable basin. That worked in the past, but i't's not working now . The water is overflowing at the back of the catch tray and leaking out through the bottom underneath. The holes are clear, so it shouldn't be doing this. I am stumped.

Has anyone figured out how to get a 25-pint Frigidaire dehumidifier (model FDD25S1) to put water out the drain hose for continuous draining instead of into the bucket? It appears to be impossible to connect the hose in a way to avoid water leaking into the bucket.
