Problem: My Magellan Triton GPS Does Not Attach the My PC.

Problem: My Magellan Triton GPS Does Not Attach To My PC.

Solution Applies To: Magellan Triton 200 300 400 500 1500 2000 and Windows Operating Systems XP, Vista (32 and 64 byte) and Win7.

Author Note: This is a problem that can happen to any user. This test will confirm that your GPS is not the problem but that the problem lies in the installation of VantagePoint or the Windows Operating System.

Testing Procedure:

The trick is to first make sure that you can attach the GPS to the PC.

This test is simple.
uninstalled the VP and delete the c:magellan drivers directory. Go into c:program filesMagellanVantagePoint and delete the VantagePoint directory and all its subdirectories.

Now do a hard reboot. This is where you completely shut off your computer.

Reinstall VantagePoint 1.94.[You can find this program on my website http://www.jungleghost.com]

After the installation do another hard reboot. This will set up your registers.

Now look at c:magellan drivers to make sure that the directory has been recreated. Go to VP LITE ICON on the bottom of the screen do a right click and uncheck the Lite start up at boot and QUIT.

Now so another hard reboot.

NOW FOR THE TEST.

With VP TURNED OFF and no other Magellan Programs running. Attach the GPS to the PC and turn it on and select under MENU>>VIEW>>SETTINGS .. Connection "Connect to PC". [You may have this choice when you first start the GPS and it is attached to the PC.]

If you CANNOT CONNECT at this point to the PC then you have a corrupt ID software on the internal memory.

If so, return to the unit to the dealer or Magellan, it is defected.

If your unit is out of warranty please visit our Triton Repair Center at http://www.jungleghost.com/repair_service.shtml

When i turn my gps on the little circle thing that spins make one and a half resolutions and stops and thats it !i did nothing else to it thats why i am on here asking why its doin this and how to fix it!

Solution 1. BACKUP ANY RELEVANT DATA THEN REINSTALL YOUR SOFTWARE FROM THE FLASH DRIVE Instructions: The disk that came with the unit should have a setting to reinstall the software on the GPS. That will make a fresh software install. I am familiar with mio pocket, and with magellan GPS units. You should just be able to plug it into the computer and access the flash drive Solution 2 please try a hard reboot. Hold the power button for 10 seconds or until it reboots. If this does not fix what was changed here is what you need to do Solution 3 It sounds like your programming is off, This means that you can try using the disk to reset it. If that doesn't work then you can go to the website, download the latest firmware, then replace the files you have with the latest firmware. You MAY have to do this manually but it's not hard. I hope this helps and please post if you have any more questions about this. Solution 4 You MAY ALSO TRY THIS FOR A HARD RESET is you keep getting the same SPINNING ERROR Here is how to reset your 1340, 1440, or 1470: Go to the system menu: On the menu bar ( the top bar where it says Sytem Settings) Tap left corner twice, right corner twice, left corner once, right corner once. It will bring up a hidden menu. The first thing on the hidden menu is reset for first use. Press that and you have done the equivalent of a hard reset. Solution 5 SETTINGS Turn off the GPS and turn in back on. Access the Main Menu and select restore all settings to factory defaults(You will loose all your settings and maps once you do this). Any modifications done will be erased automatically OR As for the Settings->Access the Main Menu-> Tap on settings-> Then tap on the option->Restore all default settings.

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

To hard reset the unit turn the unit off, hold down the mode button and turn the unit on. When the unit asks if you want to erase all user data, select yes. After resetting the unit, leave it with a clear view of the sky for about 30 minutes to acquire the satellite almanac. “ Do not worry You don’t loose Your saved rides data, only all screen settings and some other device settings will go away. Set it back to Your preferences and You’re done. Hard reset is suggested after software updates. In my case it heals all self shutdown problems in my Edge 705 GPS.
