Question about Bissell 3920 Bagless Upright Vacuum

2 Answers

My Bissell 3920 motor is making a high pitched noise. I have cleared out pet hair from top to bottom. Cleaned the lower filter and replaced the upper filter. I Checked for blockage in the hoses and found none. The filter indicator goes green when I turn it on, but the straining motor noise persists.

Is replacing motor bearings/motor fan an easy task? I can't find motor bearings or fan under parts on this website to price. Can you estimate what each item costs?

    Thanks.

Hi,

The reason for the high sound is
motor bearings has gone bad.
Some times defective motor fan will also cause this loud noise.
So you have replace the motor bearing or fan accordingly.

post a comment for further assistance.

    Hi,

You can replace the motor by yourself. If you are good mechanic.
But the bearings and fan can be only replaced in service center..

    Motor bearing cost 3 pounds.
Motor fan cost from 17 pounds. This one looks palm size fan.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

There is probably a clog somewhere. Start by checking the tube where the air is sucked into the vacuum by the brushroll

Hi, my Bissell 3920 has lost almost all of its suction. I checked the hoses and tubes but did not find any blockages. Filters are clean. Thanks.

Hi, Have you checked and made sure the floor plate is secure and tight without any gaps around the edges? If that's ok then check the suction hose where it bends down to the floor unit,, lots of times dirt, hair and stuff collects there when the filter was plugged up. remove the floor plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a wire coat hanger to run up the suction hose and back out and clean out any debris, also check the entire hose for blockage ( top to bottom ). if this is all clear and you still have little suction - then the problem could be the vacume motor itself

HI I have a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser it has a very loud high pitched squeal, I have removed the belt & cleaned it with no effect. Is there something else I cn do? Thanks Joe

The belt may be stretched out and therefore, no good. You can try roughing up the surfaces the belt rides in with some 150 grit sandpaper. That may do the trick

Sounds like a bad motor bearing. If it is, then you would have to replace it. Could be the brush roll, did you check the ends to make sure they turn easily?

Sounds like you have a clog. Make sure the filters are clean, replace if it has been more then a year, check the inlet down by the brush roll, your clog maybe there.
