Do you have heat in the dryer?is it on time dry or auto dry?when the heat shuts down then the timer will advance in auto, when the heat starts again the timer stops.let me know if you have heat or not and send the model next time, will start with 110. or something like that and eight numbers after the dot

The dryer does have heat and the timer does not work on auto or timed dry. The model number is 110.66712694.

if it's doing this on time and auto i'd have to say the timer is bad,if everything is running normal except for the timer not counting down it sounds like the clock in the timer is bad,the part number is 3976577 and it's around 90 bucks.tell me is everything running good except the timer isn't moving and can you hear the clock ticking in the timer, one more thing if you turn the timer by hand to off does it shut down

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

Have a kenmore series 70 dryer. Won't shut off

Yes it deffinetley sounds like you may have a timer issue, if your timer stops and the dryer is running, or if the timer keeps going around and around this will be the problem, however there are thermostats inside the dryer and if you have it set on a HEAT and not a TIMED setting the thermostats won't advance the timer because they havent been set.Hope this helps

Thanks.

The most likely cause is a bad ignitor part number 279311. It has to glow to open the valve and ignite the gas. You should hear a loud click when you first start the dryer. That tells us there is voltage to the gas valve.

Long drying times model #11062712100

Try this and let me know what happens.
TIP OF THE DAY
To reduce the suction draft and drying time your drier and save some cash, remove the lint catcher and take it to the sink. Run water into it, if there is excessive pooling of the water (water not running straight through) then fabric softener is fouling the lint screen. Use a small brush and dish detergent to clean it and then shake off all the water and dry the screen. Remember this tip on future driers and you will make the dryer blower motor last much longer.

Kenmore 70 Series

You probably have an open thermal fuse, the dryer will run in some cases and not heat, Just moving air across you clothes will dry them however it takes forever.

If you are electrical or mechanical replace the thermal fuse yourself if not call someone you trust, you can purchase thermal fuses on line from Sears.com just do a parts search for you specific dryer.

Kenmore 70 series,does not dry

Check the vent pathway. Perhaps the theromstat is sensing high temp due to restricted air flow and kicking off.
