Sonic is typically a cd burner software. look for any CD utilities running down by the clock and right click on the icon to exit them. Maybe look for a sonic or CD/DVD software package that would have come on a disk with your computer , insert it and re-install the package, that may do it for you. If the nag is tooo annoying, for the interim look in your start menu under startup and delete anything in there that is in relation to sonic or cd writing software. Hope that helps you. Cheers

Fair enough, more complicated that i originally thought. after some review I found this for you:
» Download and Run the Sonic Isum_hotfix.exe File from here :http://tools.roxio.com/support/dell/isum...

Open a Web browser such as Windows® Internet Explorer®, and then download the file isum_hotfix (.EXE).
In the File Download - Security Warning window, click Run.
In the Internet Explorer - Security Warning window, click Run.
In the Sonic - ISUM Hotfix Setup window, click Yes to install the hotfix.
When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
» Run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. To do this, follow these steps:

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp package. from here:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
In the File Download - Security Warning window, click Run.
In the Internet Explorer - Security Warning window, click Run.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
Run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Installer Clean Up.
That should do er. Let me know if that does the trick. (and yes the problem was related to your cd burning software) Cheers

Usually this message comes from office, you need to put the office CD in the CD rom drive, than the system will copy the missing file and the message will stop poping up.

You can avoid this prompt by shutting the activation service down.

    apply changes and restart
upon restarting a prompt will open saying you have made changes

    Reinstallation CD will not run

When trying to boot from a CD on a Dell system you should put the CD in the CD-ROM tray and reboot the computer. When the initial Dell splash screen appears, you should press F12 (not F2 for BIOS) for a boot menu. In that menu you want to choose the CD-ROM drive. If you have made changes in BIOS you may want to undo them and try this way instead.
