Try resoldering the vertical output IC. sounds like the cRTs are blanking due to the vertical. If that doesnt help you may need a new IC. While youre there look for signs of the CRt leaking as often it leaks right onto the vertical output section real close to the IC.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

sounds like a blown capacitor or a PCB. The tv needs to be taken to an authorized service center to be looked at.

Hello Fixya, Thanks for being available in the Net!!! I have a mitsubishi tv model #ws-55809 and the picture is funky.... It's like it's cartooned. The words are fuzzy a bit and so is the skin...

Sounds like a loss of picture resolution. There is a circuit board in your TV that determines the type of signal (HD or standard definition) The video signal (picture signal) is routed thru this board. Call a local Mitsubishi servicer and get a price on replacement. It may cost more than its worth.

Pt 56tw53 picture trouble

I had the same problem with my TV, It seems the high voltage trasnformer blew which in turn casued the pin cushion?? to blow. It then shuts the tv off to prevent more damage to it. $500 with service charges to get it fixed!
