Question about Logitech MX 5500 Mouse

1 Answer

The mouse will quite often stop working until I turn it off and back on, and sometimes the left click will get stuck. not the actual button, but the effect of it, if you understand what i mean. As of recent as well, it sometimes does a very fast double click instead of a single, when i, you know, click.

The MX 5500 is a usb bluetooth keyboard and mouse, I had this problem as well when I went beyond the range of the bluetooth. What i did to solve it was puchased a usb extension cable and moved the base key closer to my keyboard and mouse. (seems to me the limit was about 15-20 Feet.) and dont get any metal obstructions in between the receiver key and the kybrd / mouse such as a metal heat vent. ps. i do really like that unit, when it works it works well.

To verify the above, simply move closer to the usb reciever plugged into your computer (it also helps if you have it plugged into a front receptacle)

Please use the solution rating if your problem has been solved, or make a note if your still having trouble. Thanks! Gurvy

I did get a usb extender and moved it closer. It still died on me once so far, but will test it a bit longer and see how it works out.

The left click is not functioning, right click works just fine but left click has no response whatsoever.

Usually either the lever (button) has slipped out of it's pivot point, the spring has come out, or the switch below the button is broken. To check, look around the edges for a small screwdriver slot or small screw. Open the mouse. Look at the button to see how it pivots. If on opening there are small pieces of plastic, discard the mouse. if it has just slipped out of its spot, realign and close the mouse, it should be good to go.

How to force an Apple computer to eject a stuck CD or DVD

Most of us have experienced it at least one, and if it hasn't happened to you yet, it's just a matter of time: a damaged CD, a failed DVD burn, or an unrecognized disc just won't eject from the Apple computer's disc drive. Here's a simple solution to force that stubborn CD out. Note: this tip requires a restart, so be sure to save any open files before proceeding.

(1) Save any open files and documents and quit all open programs.
(2) Click on the Apple icon in the top-right corner of the screen and select "Restart."
(3) Click the "Restart" button on the message box that pops up.
(4) As soon as the screen turns black, before the computer begins rebooting, click and hold down the mouse button. See step 4(a) for more details about this step.
(4a) If you have an older model trackpad, click and hold the trackpad button. If you have the new, button-less trackpad, click and hold down the trackpad itself. If you have a two-button mouse, click and hold down the left mouse button. If you have a wireless Bluetooth mouse, click and hold the left mouse button (though you may not have success with the MagicMouse; use a wired USB mouse if you have one available).
(5) Keep the mouse button held down until the CD/DVD media is auto-ejected from the drive.

If the CD still remains stuck in the drive, there is a more serious problem at work, and the assistance of an authorized Apple technician will likely be required.

Mouse buttons left right switching sticky keys

Remember you can always use the keypad in place of the mouse. Try replacing the mouse with another one. If that doesn't work, it is probably something in the software. Do a scan on the system next.

Hi. the touchpad on my Dell Latitude D620 has somehow been disabled or jus quit working..idk which. so am trying to install a ge wireless optical mouse HO97985......WK2004 with usb receiver.how do i get...

If it was disabled try this. push the FN or function key, found near the lower left of the keyboard. Hold that down and then push the F10 or F12 key. Should be F10 on that model. That should turn it back on. The pads are pretty reliable and I've actually only ever seen one die in about 15 years.

If you are stuck installing then plug the mouse in and boot. It should actually find the mouse as new software and install a default driver. You may have to reboot it once after before it works. To work without a mouse you use the tab and spacebar. Tab mose from one box to another and space acts like a mouse click. Alt tab moves from one program to another. And to close use alt -F4 and to shut down use alt-f4. You shouldn;t need to do that if you boot with the mouse in the usb so it finds it.

Logitech LX8 Mouse back button quit working on AOL

This has been a long time problem with Logitech and Aol. If your mouse software allows you to edit your mouse buttons, change the back button to "keystroke" and enter the back arrow key on your keyboard as the command. Alt left arrow also works. While you don't appear to have a forward button, Aol users who do, would change it to "keystroke"...Alt right arrow.

Try uninstalling the drivers for the mouse from the device manager, the do a hardware search, it will find the device and automatically reinstall the drivers. If this doesn't work, then the synaptic touch pad is shot and needs replaced.

PROBLEMS WITH MOUSE

FIXED, I managed to fix my copperhead last night after its been sat under my desk for the past 4 months with doubleclick problem. I peeled off the lower slider foot, removed the QC sticker off the screw, removed the screw and took the top off the mouse. inside, under the faulty button (left mouse button for me) there is a little black box with a small thin white button on top. i very carefully lifted the black box slightly off its connection with a small flathead screwdriver then pushed it back down again. i did this with the mouse plugged in to usb blue lights on and everything. it stopped double clicking instantly, hope this works for anyone else. let me know.

I can now use my razer again. wooooooooooooooooo

DID YOU TRY SWITCHING YOUR BUTTON ASSIGHNMENT (LOCATED IN MOUSE OPTIONS IN CONTROL PANEL) TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS ON BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT BUTTONS??? ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR SENDING UNIT IS NO FARTHER THAN A COUPLE FEET FROM YOUR MOUSE.
