Have a Dell inspiton 1525 with Cyberlink PowerDVD DX 8.3.1.6107. It plays BD with the laptops monitor but when I connect via the laptop's HDMI port to my HD TV, it starts playing and then I get an error code "0110" and it says I need to usa a VGA connection (sorry I did not copy it down but that is close). About 6 months ago it was playing fine. Any ideas? Thanks, nelsden [email protected]

Sounds silly but try another HDMI cable, they are not all the same, be sure the TV is set to the proper HDMI port before proceeding. Then give er a go. The computer needs to detect the HDMI cable properly before it can initialize it, if its not set the right port(on the TV first) the computer cannot identify the signal type and can throw an error. Hope that helps, just a couple ideas off the top.

Thanks for the reply! What you say makes good sense. I should have explained better . . . The HDMI connection/signal works well. It recognizes the signal and transfers my display to the TV and all is well (I could get spoiled with a 37" monitor). When the BD DVD spins up and launches the PowerDVD DX app, it actually starts playing the BD DVD but into the first "preview", the error message comes up. I have never had this happen before, but have not used this setup in over 6 months. I'm going to try and reinstall the PowerDVD DX software and redo the updates and see what happens. Thanks again for your interest.

Did you tell the laptop that you wanted to use the external monitor instead or in addition to the built-in display? There's a hot-key sequence you have to hit to engage the external display. In addition you may need to update the drivers for the HDMI. Some computers you can right-click on the desktop and select "Graphics Properties" and tell Windows which display port to use. Basically it sounds like a configuration issue where you're going to have to figure out how to tell Windows to use the HDMI port.

Dell insperon 1525 no sound or picture to tv with new hdmi cable connected , it worked fine yesterday but now i can get nothing , it doesnt even show on the tv that the laptop is connected to the tv

When you connect the laptop to the tv with the HDMI cable you will need to press function and F1/F2 depending on your keyboard layout. It is the key with 2 screens on it.
Once you press that windows will show you options for changing displays like Duplicate, Extend, Monitor, Projector(in this case Projector is the TV)
And for audio, you will need to right click on the volume mixer in the system tray and say playback devices. Click on the hdmi one and say set as default.
When this is done, everytime you plug in the HDMI to the TV it will automatically play audio from the TV.

I have a dell inspiron 1750 - which came bundled with cyberlink powerdvd 8.3.1.6107. It will not play the bluray version of Avatar, nor will it successfully update to any newer version. The Cyberlink...

The Dell Inspiron 1750 came with a DVD+/-RW drive. Did you purchase a replacement blu-ray optical drive (or purchase from dell with the upgrade to blu-ray)? If you do not have a blu-ray drive, a bluray movie will not play.

Cyberlink has some support information and manuals here: http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do . Search for PowerDVD and DX8 for Dell in the two drop down menus.

In addition, Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 only supports Blu-ray in their Ultra Edition (Blu-ray Disc) only. You will need to purchase either a newer version of the product that includes blu-ray support (or if sold separately the plug-ins that make the Ultra version of the product). See http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdvd/compare-retail_en_US.html for the different versions of Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 (and version 9). Scroll down to the section labeled HD Video Support.

I hope this helps.

How do i play a blu ray dvd. I have put the disc in but nothing happens.

Hi,

You need Cyberlink PowerDVD software to run a BlueRay Disk. Normally, in Acer computer you should have Cyberlink PowerDVD software, please open the software and follow the below mentioned steps

To update the Cyberlink PowerDVD software:

1. Connect to the Internet.
2. Open the Cyberlink Power DVD application.
3. Click the arrow in the upper left hand corner of the window next to Cyberlink PowerDVD.
4. Click on Update Now
5. Follow the prompts to install the update.

Note: The update process may have to be repeated more than once to ensure the latest version is loaded on the computer.
Reminder: Blu-ray protection software prevents Blu-ray movies from being displayed on both the notebook LCD and an external monitor at the same time.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha
