I have a toshiba equium tryin to set up microphone but no matter which option i use it wont recognize my voice

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

In Sounds & Audio Devices Properties window locate SOUND PLAYBACK box. Click the VOLUME button. Make sure that there is not a check-mark in the MUTE box against microphone in the list of devices and that the volume slider is at the top of the scale.

Make sure the MUTE ALL box isn't checked before closing the window.

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls).

NOTE if your microphone is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK. Same applies for Internal mic.

That should be it.

To adjust audio volume generally.

Under VOLUME tab adjust Device Volume as necessary. Also (under Loudpeaker Settings) click Speaker Volume and adjust slider to suit.

You might put a check mark in the box to show the volume control on the Task Bar so you can go straight to it to make adjustments in the future.

I'm having problems setting up my numark tt1625 turntables with the mixer. I can't hear any sound even with volume on full. do I need an amp or is the equipment broken?

Double-click the Volume Control icon (beside your computer's clock, on the System Tray) to open the "mixer". Ensure that you have no "sliders" that have been set to "zero" ("no sound").

Connect the turntable-output to the "blue" (audio-in) socket on your computer's sound-card.
If you get no sound, move the connector to the "pink" (microphone-in) socket on the computer's sound-card, and try again.

Cant find correct sockets for speakers

There are usually several small holes in the connection board on the back of the desktop computer. The makers inscribe a small icon next to each hole to describe what they are for....sound in, sound out, record, etc.
I can never interpret what the icons mean, so I just plug the speaker wire into each hole until I get sound.

Be sure to have sound activated (via the software) on the computer before doing this. If you have the sound muted or worse yet, have no sound driver installed, you won't get sound no matter what port/hole you connect your speakers to.

Need more volume on computer speakers

Buy yourself some stand alone speakers, a base & two side speakers, they cheap these days, base speaker has buit in amplifier & plugs into mains, or get surround sound 5speakers & a base, again mains powered, loud enough to annoy neighbours on full. Built in monitor speakers are renowned feeble tinny sounds. Right click speaker icon, bottom right, on your desktop toolbar, open volume control, ensure volume sliders set to max.

There is no sound from my computer? Even when I plug in speakers to the back of the tower there is no sound. Or when I plug in headphones to the headphone jack there is no sound. and I don't know if it's...

Ok lets see if we can do some of the easy stuff first.

First check you dont have a red line through your speaker on your toolbar. If so click it and "UN-mute it.

Check that the speakers are plugged into the GREEN port on the back of the computer and that the speakers are powered up with the volume at about 1/2 way.

Open volume control.

If the volume contol on your computer is greyed out then you need to check the hardware from the control panel.

When the box with all the sliders opens up click on OPTIONS (top left)
Click PROERTIES

Make sure that Volume controls, Wave, SW Synth, CD PLayer, Line IN, and MIC all show on there and that the volume sliders are about half way up.

Make sure noe of the sliders have ticks at the bottom, if so UNTICK them.

If any of those are missing click options then properties from the top left and put a tick besides any that were missing
(nothing else unles you know you want that item)

Now close the slider box.

Put a normal music cd in your cd/dvd player on the computer and set it to play with windows media player.

You should now have sound out of the speakers.

If not double check that you have no problems with your hardware from the device manager.

If you have any exclamation marks by any hardware you need to sort that out. (maybe drivers first)

It might not have came with a speaker. Can you add an external speaker. That might work. Check the device manager to see if you are having any conficts.
