My ge dryer model DRS483ED1WW won't turn on all it does is buzz when I try. I have changed starter switch that didn't work

does the drum and motor turn by hand freely. but i think its possibly the bushes in the motor. just have a look at motor and see if theres black carbon dust on it, you will get this on a motor anyway but not in excess

Hello all I have a GE DCLR333ETOWW Electric dryer. When we got it the start button was missing so I had the Blue and Brown Wires sticking out and we would just touch them together for a second and the...

first things first. Electric dryers are 220v on a double breaker in your breaker box. (120v for the motor,120v for the heater element). When your dryer sparked, it probably tripped the breaker. Note: you REALLY need to buy a switch an get those exposed wires back inside of the dryer where they belong...just sayin'

My ge profile dryer won't start.I checked the breakers and they were ok. Any other suggestions?

Hi,
  • Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

  • If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

  • Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Hope this will fix your problem for sure.

How do you remove the back plate of a GE profile Harmony. I have the screws out, the top off. Does the back plate slide up? Do the sides have to come off with the back? Or what? Please. Thanks

the back plate does not come off.
to get to the motors, belt, sensors...
remove the screws to the inner top cover(under outer cover) and the plastic strips- slide strips front or back to remove.
remove the screws to the front panel- 2 top front, 4 inside door.
as you pull the front off, unhook the light and the door switch
remove the scres to the front drum plate.
reach under drum and unhook belt-take note how it goes around motor and tensioner.
lift drum out and observe everything else.

GE ELECTRIC DRYER - WILL NOT COME ON.

Very often the problem is the resetable thermostat, if you open the top you'll find it on the back inside, you can test with an ohm meter or just bypass it to test it.

Dryer has power won't start cycle Hi - The light goes on inside the dryer, but when I close the door and select start nothing happens.

If that doesn't do it, (door switch), then check underneath the top and look for the thermal overload switch. Bypass it and see if it runs. If not, then start back at the wiring at the receptacle and then follow to the terminal block located in the back of the dryer. You could be getting power to the receptacle but it may stop there because of a loose wire. You could have lost a leg of power.
