Question about Optics

I bought what was described as an antique telescope which was dropped and the lenses were broken. Is there anyone in the UK or Ireland[where I live] who could replace the lenses for me.Any lenses would do.

Contact a local Astronomy club. They will know where to purchase a new lens.

We have a refractor AZ2 holder (the only name we have.) No manual, several lenes, but how to put them together??? The lenses are SR4mm, H12.5mm, 1.5X erecting eyepiece & 3X Barlow Lens. Hope you can...

The 3 x barlow will be useless for this small telescope.

Put the 1.5 x erecting PRISM into the telescope and then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the erecting prism. This is your lowest magnification.

Take the scope outside during the daytime and practice focusing on a distant object. Turn the focuser knobs slowly until the object comes into sharp focus.

Hi.im thinking of buying an olympus 12-60 lense described as spairs or repair.dont know the nature of the fault.what would be the worst case senareo in terms of cost of repair. thankyou.trevor uk.

"Spares or repair" means that the lens is broken and cannot be sold as working.

It could be that the autofocus motor doesn't work...and if you're happy to focus manually, it could be a great deal.  It could be a great deal more serious: if the lens has been dropped there could be physical damage to one of the lenses; or one of the lenses could be loose and/or out of position.  It could be full of sand.  Anything.

The worst case scenario is that it is not repairable and you'd be completely wasting your money.  If it were me, I'd contact the seller and get more information on the nature of the fault before parting with cash.  It might be something that you can repair/live with or it might not.  You need to know which before spending the money.  If you go in blind, there is a very real risk that you'll drop the money on something valueless.

I have an Officer of the Watch telescope (NAV1622)which over the years has been taken apart and reassembled so that now nobody knows which way the lenses should be. Does anyone have a manual or schematic...

These are usually reproductions of antique draw tube telescopes used by naval officers. They can be bought new for under $125 dollars.

Extremely doubtful you can find any manual which will help you assemble the eyepiece.

However if you have an authentic one here is the specification page:

I have a meade telescope model 60azd. My kids

If the front lens is broken you will not be able to repair it at reasonable cost--

Sorry-

For their next telescope may I suggest a nice small Dobsonian style- like this one--
