I downloaded the new driver that came out and installed it, but the device still won't start. I don't really have another laptop to install it on, unfortunantly, or even the know how to do it. I don't think it's just signal though, because the device won't even start, it's not taking any power or anything.

is there any other slots on the same laptop that you are using? or another wireless card?
As of now, you have to further isolate whether the problem is on the slot of your laptop or on the card itself. Since another laptop is out of the question, you can use another wireless card to test. :)

Did you try uninstalling it from device manager??
After you uninstall it , reinstall it using the updated driver that you have downloaded.
