While vacuming loses suction, sand filter pressure goes high

That increase is due to the filter loading up with debris. Is the pool unusually dirty? If there is a lot of dirt and silt in the pool use the "waste" setting on your backwash valve while vacuuming.
This allows the water to bypass the filter and go directly out the waste line. Keep an eye on your water level because you will be removing water from the pool and may have to add more.

Hey i find when im vacuming the dirt i pick up from the bottom of the pool just goes threw the filter and back into the pool, what should i do?

The multi-port valve should be in the WASTE position when vacuuming. Make sure there is enough water in the pool to stay above the skimmer when vacuuming .

Trying to open pool for my first time....not sure what to turn valves to so water will run into the filter from pool

red valve handles align with flow of water long ways the tail in direction of pipe valves open to open pool generally all Valves open Main drain (floor of pool). Skimmer square hole somewhere on side edge of pool... There could be a third Valve for a seperate Vacuming port (like mine) it can be either its below water line .. On the Round Sand filter theres a Multi port Valve I usually start the Filter in RECIRC mode .. While I net and gather debris then I add floculant leave on recirc two hours . Then Shut ALL down for 12 Hrs while all the algae and debris sinks to bottom . Water will be reasonably clear.. Make sure pools Extra full , And Vacum all on bottom on waste setting

What does my filter need to be set on before i vacuum my pool

For regular vacumming with these Hayward pool filters, you will use the regular filter setting. If you have a very dirty pool or heavy loads of debris, vacuum on the waste setting so that the debris will bypass the filter and not clog or litter it.

What setting should I have my Hayward Sand Filter system on when I am vacumming out my pool?

Your pool filter should be set on "filter" for normal vacuuming. If you have a heavy debris load or an extremely dirty pool, you might want to vacuum with the "waste" setting, if your filter has one.

First, make sure that you are on the "filter" setting. If you have large debris or an extremely dirty pool, you might want to try the "waste" setting. Also, make sure that your pool filter has been backwashed. You might also want to consider changing your sand if it is only. It could have lost some of its effectiveness. Let me know if you try this and are still having problems.

When i run my pump while vacuming, my pool turns green

As in most cases today, pumps and filters are not properly matched. The filter cannot retain such fine algae particles because they are being driven through the sand bed by an over zealous pump. I suggest that you let the dead algae settle to the bottom. top up water and use the vacuum to waste position on m.port valve. Vacuum in such a way that you dont stir up the debris.
