I opened HPcompaq nc6220 to check a few things and after reconnecting everything i hit the power button and the laptop comes on because you can hear it working but the LCD is black and when i tried to connect to external monitor via VGA nothing happens either..what is the most likeliest thing OR things I may have accidentally done when taking computer apart? AND how would I go about fixing it?

i appreciate all that but fortunately i was able to get it working. the white (AUX) wire that runs from LCD to touch pad came loose. Only reason I did not check them was because when i mentioned taking the laptop apart earlier, all i did was take the plastic strip with the power button off and pop the keyboard out and did what i need to do from there. Anyways, thank you again.
Oh, is there a trick to taking the ROM drive out on this compaq nc6220. I took the screw in the bottoms out and it should just slide out from my pase experience with other labtops but not this one,...any ideas?

Hi. In most cases, electrostatic energy might cause this problem. Try to drain the electrostatic energy of the motherboard. Unplugged the power adapter from the wall socket. Take out the battery and press and hold the power button for 30 sec. Plugged everything back in and turn the computer ON. If nothing happens after this troubleshooting then there is a huge possibility that the issue here is your LCD.

All the best!

I would think, in this case, since neither the LCD screen or external monitor is working, the fault will have to lie with the video board. I'm not certain if the video board is built into the motherboard, or separate on your model. If it's not built in, it may just be a loose connection. If it is built in, that's not good news, since the motherboard may have to be replaced to fix it. Since you took it apart, I'm wondering why...and if that problem contributed to this, or how the video could have been disabled. Not knowing what you did, or what the original problem was, I have no clues to guess at, except the obvious. It would take a schematic and oscilloscope to troubleshoot the output of the video board, or to locate a bad power feed, etc. I would take it back apart, and go back over everything you did, trying to see if something was left loose or disconnected. Aside from that, the unit may have to be serviced, and sometimes that's not cost effective, since new computers are so affordable these days.
Wish I had more to tell you, but hope this helps.

Open cpu cabinet then you can motherboard pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 seconds then put it back reconnect RAM memory reconnect both connection to harddrive .Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet. Then check. Also when you power up the computer press F8 key 5 to 6 times then if you are able to see safe mode and other menu enter in "Enable vga mode" then go to display property and change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi! Please try this. Remove the battery of the laptop and press hold the power button for 10secs. while the battery is removed. This should reset the system and may resolve the problem. Try it and see how it goes after you put in the battery. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

The keyboard doesn't work. it does not have any fall or hit or liquid

If you are using the Windows 7 try to open Command prompt while booting the computer go to the advanced recovery option and try to open command prompt and see if the keyboard is working , if it is then load BIOS setup default and restart the computer
or else
Shut down your computer and disconnect the battery and also the Ac adapter which is connected to your laptop, and then once your computer is Off just press and hold power button for at least 15-20 sec and yes do not lift your finger from the power button Reconnect everything Battery as well as your Ac adapter, and try to see if the issue is resolved or not

When I hit the power on button on my compaq nc6220 the yellow battery light flashes and nothing happens

Please try removing the battery, and then connect the power adaptor and try switching the laptop on see it if works if it works then the battery needs to be replaced. I would also recommend if you can check your power adaptor / swap your power adaptor with a know good adaptor (if you have one). The remaining steps will depend on the outcome of the steps above.

Acer Aspire One, the Laptop powers on,the yellow light comes on when you hit the power button, thats about it you dont hear the hard drive running and the lcd dosent come up either, sometimes if i remove...

sounds like a power issue, may be related to the motherboard and you may need to get in touch with Acer support for it, but try these and see if it helps. turn off the system, remove the battery and adapter and remove the hard drive and memory if you can. with the components removed, hold down the power button for about 10 secs to discharge whatever power remaining. After that, connect all components, boot in BIOS and reset the default settings, and then restart the computer and observe it. Make sure to set any BIOS options again that you may have set previously.

Hp nc6220 power trouble

Simply put there can one of several causes. Test the power output at the tip of the charger, weak or failing chargers may not deliver the specified voltage to properly power or charge the laptop sufficiently to continue operation. The DC jack may be worn out and not accepting the proper voltage from the charger. A very hot charger may be an indication of power distribution issues. The biggie may be that the motherboard has failed and is not accepting the signal to keep things running and is ordering a complete unit shutdown before the boot process begins.

Motherboard. Your best bet is to purchase another computer. If you can however get the motherboard at a cheap price, then go ahead and change it. I would check ebay first.

Whirlpool dryer wont start

Check the door switch actuator (the piece sticking down that the door actuates when closing . Could have broken off . If there , and you hear a click , then thermal fus (white piece with 2 wires attached ) could be problem . Disconnect power and put the 2 wires togather. Reconnect power and see if dryer starts . I have never had to replace a push-to-start switch .

Hp pavillion dv7 won't power on

Same issue - solved by disconencting everything (main battery, CMOS battery, RAM, hard disk and wireless card). Held in power button for 20 seconds (HP say this removes any electostatic charge on the main board). Reconnected everything and machine booted to Windows. Ran HP's onboard diagnostics and everything checked out OK.
