having the same problem. Push the start button, and nothing happens. The green a/c power comes on when it's plugged in to the power cord. No noise, no beeps, nothing. I tried taking the battery out and disconnecting power cord...still nothing. Won't power up with the battery in OR out. For a while it would power up after a few tries when I took the battery out. Now there's nothing no matter what I do. I've heard it could be a voltage converter, or possible the a/c cord. However, if the cord is bad, why does the power light come on? Any other ideas? Are compaq just crappy systems? It seems alot of people have this very same issue with Presarios.

Try to remove battery and plug into wall charger and see if it works. If it works, your battery is defective and you have to replace it.
If it still does not work, it could be a problem with the power supply unit on you laptop. I recommend you consult a qualified technician in this regard.
Hope that helps!

Leave it plugged in for a while (like long enough for the battery to fully charge) and try again. Your battery could be shot causing this problem. After a full charge cycle and testing you'll know better what to do, so please post back your results.

My laptop is an Asus 1005HA-V and I'm having trouble turning it on. I've had it for about a year and when I try to turn it on it's lights flash and then turn off again. Also sometimes when it's on the...

Things that you can try:
1. disconnect the charger and the battery. 2. press and hold the power button for 15 secs. w/o the charger and the battery (the reason for that is to drain flea power). 3. connect the laptop straight from the charger w/o the battery and turn it on. It should turn on fine. If nothing happens, the motherboard is bad or the charger.

Problem: A100 flashing Amber light but won't turn

Check your charger. It seems to indicate low batery and the charger may not work or the power socket has a faulty connection. Check for phisical damage in the power socket of you laptop.
Try to twist it or even push it in a bit while trying to switch on. Try also to remove the baterry and use the charger power supply only.
If nothing happens its very likely to be the charger.

Toshiba satilite P100...wont turn of

Try these:

1. Can you plug something else besides your laptop into the outlet...verify you have power?

2. Is there a light on your AC adapter...when you plug it in?

3. Try removing your battery and plugging it in, and verify that your AC adapter is working (somehow, if it has no indicator light)

4. Then unplug it, put the battery back in and see if it will start.

Let us know what happens after you try these.

NO POWER!!!HELP

Is the voltage meter directly on the Battery?? What model Dell is it?? I have found that on the D800 models for some reason the connection from the power button to the Motherboard comes loose. You need to remove the Keyboard cover to check this.
