Error code 80080005

Is your windows updates disabled? Is your anti virus up to date? Do you have a Malware program, updated? If you do not have MALWAREBYTES download and install :http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ Run a FULL SCAN, may take hours, depends on HDD size. Delete ALL RESULTS. I don't know your OS? Vista? win7? 32? 64? Her is a standalone windows update for both 32/64:

80070246 error when trying to update windows how to fix problem

Clear the contents of the WindowsUpdate folder
  1. Click Start, click Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
  2. In the left pane, double-click the Program Files folder.
  3. In the left pane, double-click the WindowsUpdate folder.
  4. In the right pane, click the V4 folder, click Edit, and then click Invert Selection.
  5. Press DELETE, and then click Yes to confirm.
  6. Open the V4 folder, then in the right pane, click to select the IUHIST.XML file, click Edit, and then click Invert Selection.
  7. Press DELETE, and then click Yes to confirm.
Note When you delete the IUHIST.XML file from the WindowsUpdate folder, you clear the whole Windows Update installation history. Microsoft does not recommend that you do this because you lose your record of previous downloads. The steps in this section delete all your files except the IUHIST.XML file.

I am not about to open system restore and it has caused some of my other programs not to open or run.

If System Restore does not start, follow these steps:
  1. Run Windows Update to check for and to install any system updates. Visit the following Microsoft Web site to check for updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com)
  2. If you are prompted, restart the computer.
  3. After the computer restarts, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click System Restore.
If System Restore did not start, you can use the "Advanced troubleshooting" section to try to resolve your issue. If you are not comfortable with advanced troubleshooting, you might want to ask someone for help or contact support. For information about how to do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/

Can't recognize new nvida video card and ram automatic updates dont work error message 0x8DDD0007

Found this solution, may apply to you:

Thanks to a gentleman by the name of Igor Franchuk, he has found the
fix to this problem, and it so easy, it makes me mad.

Here is what we sent to me:

" I've encountered the same problem as you did today. When searching
the
Internet for the same error in hope for a ready solution in
some discussion forum I surfed over quite a few responses and none
of them were solutions.

After giving up I came up with a solution of our problem. It seems
like there was actually a mistake in the previous versions of
windows update.

After disassembling wuweb.dll that is responsible for webControl
update ActiveX object that is actually handling web based updates
I discovered the place where reboot required message is generated.
After looking in around the code I found that the condition
the message is generated is the presence or absence of

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto
Update\RebootRequired

key.

If the key exists - the message is generated by that brand new v5
update and it fails to work further causing [Error number:
0x8DDD0007].

I assume this key was set up in my registry long ago by the when the
old automatic
update (taskbar version) was uploading a new software and failing to
install it.

The solution then is simple remove the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto
Update\RebootRequired

so there would be only

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto
Update

key without RebootRequired entry.

REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto
Update\RebootRequired]

After I removed the key RebootRequired v5 update started to work
happily, and installed a new version of wuauclt.exe
"

It worked for me wonderfully, and I feel a lot better about sp2. Hope
this helps those in need!

Resolution Suggestion One:

# Test your Internet connection to Windows Update.

A simple solution but one that works in many circumstances!

Test to determine if your Internet connection is preventing you from reaching the Windows Update Web site. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Windows Update Web site to determine if you can download the Iuident.cab file:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v4/iuident.cab

If a file download dialog box appears, the problem is not with your Internet connection. Click Cancel. If you cannot connect to this link, and you receive a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error message, your Internet connection is preventing you from reaching the Windows Update site.

I TRY THIS OPTION AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM

-----------------------------------------------

Resolution Suggestion Two:

# Reconfigure or update your firewall program.

Reconfigure or update your firewall program so that Windows Update is not blocked, and then try to update your computer again by using Windows Update. For information about how to reconfigure or update your firewall program, see the documentation that was included with the program, view the Help files for your program, or contact the manufacturer's technical support department.

e.g It my mean Opening TCP/IP 443 in both directions for this process: %windir%\system32\svchost.exe

I DONT HAVE A FIREWALL PROGRAM.
-----------------------------------------------

Resolution Suggestion Three:

# Remove Windows Update entries from the HOSTS file.

To remove Windows Update entries from the HOSTS file, follow these steps:

-Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Notepad
-On the File menu, click Open.
-In the Files of type box, click All Files.
-In the Look in box, locate the following folder:

C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\

-Double-click to open the hosts file.
-Remove any lines that contain entries for Windows Update (http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com).
-On the File menu, click Save.
-Close Notepad.

I have seen the 0x80072EFD error resolved by this tip many times...

HERE I AM... I DON'T HAVE A HOSTS FILE... I NEED TO STOP HERE
AND SOLVE SOMETHING?

WHAT HAPPEN WITH THE NEXT SUGGESTIONS?
I TRY THEM ALREADY BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE.
