Ok, it is time to stop guessing on how much salt to add or take out.
You need to be as close to 3000ppm as you can
anything under 2700 and you will not generate enough chlorine. any thing above 3500 and you can go cloudy, have build up, or just plain taste terrible.

you need a test kit for salt that reads in #'s not color
the color salt kits have too much varience

If you are over, drain 20% of the pool and ad fresh water keep doing this till you get close to 3000ppm

If you are under then ad the amount of salt stated in the test directions.
Once at 3000 clean your cell again.
you should be good to go

Dont forget that once at 3000 you must keep an eye on the level because of rain and adding water for splash out

My systems low salt alarm keeps coming on. I have added salt and tested the water all is good. I checked unit for cleaning and it looks very clean. Is it just broke ? Thanks Jim

Jim,

If the salt level is around 3000 ppm and the cells do not have any white calcium build up, you may have a bad electrolytic cell.. Had the same issue with mine.. After I bought a new unit, problems went away and not had an issue.. Found the new model at Wal-Mart for 149.00 with a free 50.00 gift card.. Like paying 99.00, great deal... Good luck Jim!!!

My pool is definatly oversalted but the pump keeps showing low salt. When tested it shows no chlorine. Is this two diferent problems or all related to the same and how do i fix it?

Low salt alarm also comes from having the electrolytic cells "dirty" of calcium/sodium build up.. Check and soak/clean with vinegar.. Shold solve the low salt alarm.. Hope this helps???

My water is cloudy and says low salt. I added 120 lbs and it still beeps low salt. I have a CS8111 saltwater system & filter combo. It is on an above ground pool 24' X 52".

Check the electrolytic cell!!! You will get a low salt alarm if cell has calcium or sodium build up.. If it does, soak, flush and clean with vinegar.. Also, make sure you run the pump only, no chlorinator for 24 hrs to properly disolve the salt you just put in....

I was wondering if the system is still producing chlorine when the alarm for low salt is going off.

Typically, NO. Increase the salt to the minimum required to turn the alarm off. Increase the salt to the optimum for optimal performance of your cell.

Once a week I've been adding salt (80 lbs) to my pool and again get low salt code (91)....it has been very unusually hot (HTX 110) is this causing the problem and I need to add more?

1st... Check your salt level consentration.. If okay... 2nd, Check you electrolytic cell, may be plugged with white flaky calcium stuff. The white calcium build-up on the cells will cause a low salt alam.

I have a 12,000 gallon abg pool Also the water is from a well system The low salt warning light came on I then cleaned the cell and reinstalled the cell only to have the High salt light come on I then...

any thing over 3500 can create alarms.

First of all make sure you are useing a test kit for salt that reads in #'s not color

your system can read low salt when it is high or even high can read low
The system only really knows something is wrong

your 7800ppm is ridiculously high

Now start draining 20% of your water at a time and refilling giving the system at least 6 hours of just filtering between drainings until you get to as close to 3000ppm as possible

under 2700ppm and you will not produce enough chlorine and can trigger alarms any higher than 3500ppm and you can trigger alarms,go cloudy, and not to mention corode any metal parts like an aluminum ladder

once you get the ppm to 3000 clean your cell one last time and you should be good to go

I would also check your water for metals since you used well water.
you may need to get a metal reducer to add to the pool

KEEP GETTING A CODE 91 LOW SALT?

Hello,
As mentioned in many of my post's, you can not just go by the reccomended amount of salt in the owners manual.
You must get salt test strips that read in #'s not colors and get your salt as close to 3000ppm as possible lower than 2800 and you will not generate enough chlorine or trigger low salt alarms
any higher than 3500ppm and you could get cloudy, or trigger high salt alarm
the water will also taste too salty when adding salt dont forget to stir up the water and filter only for at least 12 hours before trying to generate salt

Longer if you ad a lot of salt like 75 lbs or so

you really should get test strips for salt. Get the kind that reads #'s
Get your pool to as close to 3000ppm as you can. any lower than 27000 and you do not generate enough chlorine any higher than 3600 will taste bad and could trigger high salt alarm 3000 is best

run filter only for a few hours before running generator the salt needs enough time to fully distribute through the pool

Mercuries have notoriously small waterways in the head and suffer seriously from this problem in salt water.
I cant suggest anything except to strip the motors completely and physically clean out the waterways. Sorry about that.
