Question about KitchenAid Washing Machines

1 Answer

We are having off and on problems with our KitchenAid front load washer (6yrs old). It is the DFL error and usually just unplugging it for a while does the trick, but that does not seem to be working any more. I had read somewhere some instructions on checking the wiring harness but cannot seem to find that online again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Rylee,

I'll check that out and let you know what happens. That was kind of what I was thinking after researching but wasn't sure how to access that.

    Kind regards,
    Carrie

    Hi Rylee,
So sorry I was not able to respond sooner! We had a tragedy in the family. I wanted you to know that things seem to be working after checking this out, I think something was just a little loose, likely due to the high spin speeds. I am sorry but I don't know where to accept the solution?
    Sincerely,
    Carrie

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error “dlf” or f dl means a door latch failure. This means that you’ll need to replace the door latch assembly however before doing that you can leave the washer unplugged for 30minutes so that it resets itself. In the meantime when it’s unplugged just inspect the door latch wiring to ensure all the connector plugs are intact and not loose or broken. You can access the door latch wiring harness by removing the top panel of the washer. To remove the top panel just remove the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, and then lift off. Locate the door latch assembly behind the front panel on the right hand side. Trace all the connectors from the door latch to the Central Control Unit (CCU) and make sure they are properly seated at both ends. If after doing this still the issue is not resolved then unfortunately you have to get the door latch replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Dl error message

Hi,
This is a door lock error. Unplug the washer and inspect the lock and latch. If all appears well, check the wiring connections to the switch, and where thay connect to the brains. Also check that the lock and latch are tight. Tighten any loose fittings and connections. Usually the lock is at fault, but it can be the brain.

Kitchenaid topload washer about 3 yrs old, started leaking from bottom, front. Checked hoses at faucet and washer, all tight no leaks there. Seem to be coming from under the front lower lip of washer.

it's the pump. release the control panel and flip back on hinges. pop the retainer clips and unplug the lid switch harness on top. pull entire white part of cabinet back and up..pump is front center.

Whirlpool Duett Front load washer, DFL code door won't unlock?

Here are the steps to unlocking the door manually
1.Unplug machine
2.remove bottom panel
3.Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the botttom of the door latch assembly
4.Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear dropped shaped tab
5. Gently pull down on the tab about a 1/4 inch or until a click is heard.
6. You may now open the door.

This code means the door lock mechanism has failed or the central control unit has failed. Replace the door lock mech. first. This should fix the problem. (before replacing anything make sure there is no obstruction around the switch or in the switch.) After the machine has been unplugged it may fix itself. if not replace door lock mech.

Fault problem

F02= LONG DRAIN
If the drain time exceeds eight minutes, the water valves are turned
off and “F/02” is flashed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the
display.
NOTE: After four minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed, then four
minutes later the “F/02” error code will be displayed.
Possible Causes / Procedure
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged
or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and
make sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
7. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
8. Replace the pump.
