My brush bar keeps falling down. We replaced motor but now the brushes don't spin.

Hi! If you've replaced the turbine & gear assembly and the brushes are still not spinning, a replacement brush-block assembly may be needed. The brushes counter rotate and need each other to spin. If a single brush is falling out, the brush assembly is broken. If the whole brush assembly keeps falling out, the drive pin shaft may be damaged. To order a replacement brush-block follow the link below.

My mk470 turns on and is really making a crazy sound but the blade wont turn

The motor on your tile saw is like a grinder, in the head is a set of gears, one on the armature and another at 90-degrees on the arbor. If the teeth on either or both gears are stripped off it will act and sound like you describe. When you move the motor or blade you are putting enough pressure on the gears that they touch enough to move the blade but it will never cut a tile. I have worked on these tile saws and have not been able to find parts for the motor to repair it. The entire motor is available on sites like www.ereplacementparts.com, part number 156428-R, but it's over $200 plus shipping.

I have a pride 1170xl with E675HT motors. I broke the black plastic brush holder getting the brush out. Can the brush holder be replaced separately or do I need to buy the whole MOTOR END CAP? I may be...

Mark,

The manufacturer parts manual indicates the following information:

The motor brush caps are available from Pride:
PLSINDV1059 Motor brush cap (Reliance 0003-0035) retail $2.68
The brushes are:
DRVBRSH1000 Motor brush Jazzy (Reliance 0002-6957) retail $36.31

The guys in tech service at Pride (800-800-8586) are always a good resource for the information you may need. If you are exceptionally nice to them they will drop a new brush cap in the mail for you for free.
You can also check with Reliance Motors at their website for information and cross reference for other brushes available based on the Reliance part numbers above.
A good local motor rebuild shop can recommend a comparable (more durable) brush based on the specs. I think you may be disappointed with the pricing of the more durable brushes.
You can try on-line at:
http://www.graphitestore.com/items_list.asp/action/prod/prd_id/255/cat_id/37
Hope this helps.

I need new brushes for Powermate Air Compressor motor. Where can I purchase them or do I need to have a Technician install? Model #CL0551109 Thank You J.L. Brooks

Brushes are not listed as a replacement part for your compressor. Not to worry because universal brushes are available at tool repair shops, hardware stores and ebay. Measure your brush and order same size or slightly larger and sand to fit. Dont worry too much about the length of brush as they can be shorter than factory and still work fine (just longer than worn brushes). Some motors have a spring pushing brush onto armature and others utilize the spring attached to brush to make contact. You can cut off wire from back of brush if needed, however if your motor needs brushes with spring attached, find close match and solder your old contact and spring to new brush. Also check for other problems because brushes should last the life of motor on your unit. Good luck

Hi.. The motor brushes (in the brass housing) are burnt out in my rainbow e-series vacuum cleaner and I need to order some new ones. I am contacting you from Ireland.. Can you advise me on how to order...

You've probably sorted your problem already ... if not, try the following link: http://www.goodvac.com/Rainbow_e_series_vacuum_main_unit_parts_s/798.htm (they have everything, good prices and very reliable) ... Tip, if you order brushes, order Brush Seating Stones with it, they help cleaning the commutator and so eliminate poor contact and sparking.

I need replacement carbon brushes for the motor. I haven't been able to find a source.

Try looking for a power tool repair shop, they usually have some brushes and can order more. I have put Hoover brushes in my Shop-Vac.
Look for some that are close to matching,( spring size, spring length, brush length). If the brushes are a little large they can be made smaller by dragging on a flat file. Carefully fit them so they slide into the brushholder nicely.
I have even soldered different ends onto the pigtails, whatever works----I am a pragmatist!
You could also look for an electric motor repair shop in your area- they have suppliers.

How can i remove the carbon brushes to check if they need renewed.I have a Hotpoint Aquarious model no WMA34. Much appreciated Chris

you will need to remove the motor, Isolate the supply by unplugging the machine, remove the rear panel, slacken the motor fixing bolts, remove the drum belt, now remove the motor bolts and drop out the motor, un-plug the motor connections.
The brushes are at the rear usually housed in plastic one on each side, disconnect the single wire and carefully remove the housing (2 torx screws), taking care not to break or loose the brush as it is spring loaded,a typical new brush will protrude 30-40mm from the housing a worn brush will be much shorter 8-15mm and just make contact with the motor commutator. replace if necessary, check the comm for wear, refit in the reverse order.
