Question about Sanyo DP50747 50 in. Plasma TV

2 Answers

I have a Sanyo 50" plasma HDTV (Vizon) and I am having trouble with what my son calls "screen burn". Red dots trail behind images and the channel guide is somewhat visible in the corner. Can this be easily fixed? Or is it a sign that this TV is on it's last leg"?

Yes, but how much would this cost? Isn't there anything that could be done with the contrast or some other easy-to-get-to adjustment?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems to be the issue with Y-main however, buffer and the logic board should also be checked. These boards are located on the right side of the unit and to check them you’ll have to open the back of the unit. Once you have opened the back also check for any blown/bulged capacitors.
All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when in off position. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

If there was I would have advised it to your already, the cost to get this repair will be around $200-$300 depending on the parts that needs to be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

    Thanks

The red dots appear because the red section of the y-sus board can no longer generate the very fast switching voltage needed to drive the pixels - they are activated with a delay.
The channel guide is visible because its image has been literally burned in the pixels - this can't be fixed.
That tv is on its last legs - keep using it till you save enough money for a new one then junk (or donate) it.

Axrael SRL, I have a Sanyo 50 inch model DP50747. I have a a wicked distorted screen with what looks like Paint Art as my picture. No matter which Input I am on. non of the colors are right and almost non of the image is intelligible. For example when using the menu, almost non of the characters can be read and all of the color is wrong on an individual Pixel level. You can identify kind of what the image is supposed to be, but can't really read anything. The color is mostly white but varies. Is this similar to what you are talking about in this repair thread?

I think it is more than a Kool-Aid stain. likely it was some kind of heat applied to the screen causing physical damage. How does it appear when the screen is white?

Pink color horizontal lines comes on and off

That issue is with one or more of the board that drive the plasma screen. If you have a warranty, you will want to call LG for a free repair.

Sorry, but to trouble shoot that issue would require some TV tools and knowledge of electronics. There are several boards involved with processing the picture image to the plasma screen.
I hope this information has helped you.
Good Luck.

I have a picture on the screen that will not go away.i change channels and the picture does not change

What you got here is called static images and unfortunately it will be hard to repair. Yes it can be repaired but it would be hard for one to do.

These static images are caused by things remaining on the screen called burn in this burn in can be taken out.

Here is something I use but does work 90 percent of the time and hope it helps you.
