Dell 924 Scanner page is blank

Follow these steps :

Open the software program that came from your scanner.

Lift the lid of your scanner, place photo on scanner bed and close the lid.

Press the "Scan" button on the scanner or in your scanner software program.

Preview the scanned photo on your computer screen and check that the borders are straight and even. Rescan the photo if you make changes.

Load photo paper into your photo printer.

Press "Print" on your computer screen where your scanned picture is showing. If "Print" is not an option, save your photo to a specific folder and open it. When it's open you should have the option to "Print.

U WILL NEED TO INSTALL THE SCANNER DRIVERS ALSO THEN USE MS WORD TO SCAN IN THE DOCS

The problem could be because of ONE out of TWO problems listed below. Try the steps recommended and it should fix the problem.

• Drivers Issue: Try uninstalling the printer drivers using the utility http://ftp.us.dell.com/printer/R166248.zip .Then install the drivers from the support website. Use the link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A924. Also DO NOT forget to update your computer's chipset drivers before this.
• Firewall Issue: Maybe your firewall is blocking the connection to your printer/scanner. Try allowing access to all applications related to Dell or printer or communication systems under Program Permissions in your Firewall program.

IN NO TIME AT ALL, YOU WILL RUN OUT OF INK.

SUGGEST YOU REMOVE PROG RESTART, THEN SETUP AGAIN. GLITCH?

Open Dell All-in-one center, keep the picture on the Scanner bed and click on scan and choose a location to save the picture once the scan is completed and the preview is visible. Alternatively, a simpler way to do this is to Open MSPaint, click on File and click on Import from Camera or Scanner. Choose the kind of picture you want to scan and confirm scan. Try experimenting with options to experience scanning effects and image quality.

That is a sound approach you offer because, 1.) Cleaning the Carts. usually solves streaking, 2.) Cleaning the strip on the read glass fixes lines on the scanned images, 3.) You may have a saturation of ink inside the conveyance rollers that is soaking everything. You don't want to know how hard it is to get all the ink out of a wet printer. Replace it, save the hassle.

If it copies fine, then it IS scanning. If you are trying to scan to your computer then you will need to open the program and follow the instructions.

Hi there, just found this solution to work perfectly. i just freaked out for a moment with the same problem. Use this or just type fax and scan in your help function. Hope this helps!

Before you begin, make sure that you've installed your scanner on the computer and that the scanner is turned on.

1. Windows Photo Gallery.
   
2. Click File, and then click Import from Camera or Scanner.
   
3. In the Import Pictures and Videos window, click the scanner that you want to use, and then click Import.
   
4. In the New Scan dialog box, click the Profile list, and then click Photo. The default settings for scanning a picture are automatically displayed.
   
5. If you're using a scanner with a document feeder, click the Paper size list, and then click the size of the picture that you've placed on the scanner or click the size that most closely matches the picture.
   
6. Click the Color format list, and then click the color format that you want the scanned file to display.
   
7. Click the File type list, and then click the file type that you want to use to save the scanned file.
   
8. Click the Resolution (DPI) list, and then click the resolution, in dots per inch, that you want to use.
   
9. Adjust the brightness and contrast settings or type the values that you want to use.
   
10. To see how the picture will appear when it is scanned, click Preview. If needed, modify the scan settings, and then preview the picture again. Repeat these steps until you're satisfied with the preview results. Some scanners might require you to place the picture in the document feeder each time that you scan.
    
11. Click Scan. When the scan is complete, Windows Photo Gallery prompts you to tag the picture so that it's easier to organize or find later.
    
12. In the Tag these pictures (optional) list, type a tag name, and then click Import. Windows Photo Gallery displays the picture so you can view, fix, or organize it.
