My Hoover vhv680c tumble dryer is working but does not get hot I have changed the element but still no good

There are other possibilities. Dryers have one or more temperature sensors that will open circuit the heater element if they get too hot. If the sensor goes bad you get no heat. These are usually located near the end of the heater element. Find the wiring diagram and you will see them. With the dryer unplugged you should be able to measure almost no resistance across their terminals. Another possibillity is in the timer. The contacts inside of it could be bad. This is likely if you get heat on some cycles and not others.

In most appliances I've had apart there is a stick plasic envelope stuck somewhere inside the cabinet or the control panel that contains the wiring diagram.

Im looking to fit a new timer to my tumble dryer and the new 1 i have purchased has different electrical connections so i dont know what wire goes where, i made a diagram of the old 1 thinking they would...

It is very difficult to mesh and wire the diffferent timers as it is best to get the original type which would be easy to fit as according to your diagram.
Only if you are aware of the output and inputs of the old timer along with the outputs and inputs in the new timer can a new diagram with the wire codes be drawn and then wired. if not please do not try with a chance wiring as it might turn to be dangerous and damaging.

How do i change my timer

Please make sure that the wiring is not tampered and taken out. Purchase the same type of timer and connect the wires after you have a sketch diagram with the wire codes so that no terminal wiring mistake is done while changing the timer.
Use the colour codes or use wire codes on the wire so that a wrong wiring is not possible.

Hotpoint tumble dryer CTD00 timer

It is not a difficult job...the thing to keep you out of trouble is to make sure you get the right timer switch, then remove one wire at a time.
Remove one wire from the old timer and put it on the new timer, there is not that many wires for your timer.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good luck,
I hope this helps
